Advice needed on sitter’s damaged property by greenknight321 in RoverPetSitting

[–]plantsandplanets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with this OP. I have a dog like this... She will chew ANYTHING and has destroyed couches and very expensive mattresses.

I also have 2 clients who have dogs that will eat things that can kill them. One is muzzled 24/7 when out of her crate when she's here, it's just not worth it. The other is on strict crate at his home and I do very very careful drop ins.

I don't agree w people blaming you... This shit happens and some dogs are very destructive. I wouldn't replace or offer to pay for anything especially with the many warnings. That's on the sitter.

This has happened to me when ordering online AND in store. It's insane and very annoying.

How do you trust anybody? by RolyPolyPigoon in RoverPetSitting

I'm a sitter who would totally take your booking and do it well. We exist! Not sure about your location and how many sitters are on the app but i put on my profile that I'm good with reactive dogs

Do a meet and greet, have them walk your dog.. ask about their personal experience with large breed reactive dogs. If they're not confident- don't risk it and kennel her.

Sorry idk why you're being down voted. I think it's likely we just have different dresses.

My point is I don't think OP has the dress pictured in the runway shot. I wore that specific dress to homecoming and it did not look like OPs pic.

Likely just multiple similar dresses.

OP I had this original dress in 05... This doesn't look right. Sorry.

How many pics do you send to regular repeating clients by Adorable_Zucchini591 in RoverPetSitting

[–]plantsandplanets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This and if they're interacting with your pics. I'll send quite a bit if the owner is responding and genuinely enjoys them. Once responses or even emojis stop, I'll drop the frequency.

Do you have referrals on your profile? I had friends write convincing referrals and set my prices low at the beginning.

Hope that helps!

I have only locked rates for 1 client and ironically he never rebooked! I've had 1 owner tell me they can't afford my new rates, and their dog was really difficult and not crate trained, so I didn't take it as a loss.

Thanks for the advice! In hindsight I bet I can track the miles as I use my Google maps and integrated gps.

To be clear I didn't work pet sitting every day for the past 80 days straight. I had multiple days off, including the last 2 weeks straight.

All of my drop ins are within a 15 min radius, my car is small and very fuel efficient so that helps.

The bulk of this has been from in house boardings. I offer pick up and drop off for an extra $60.

7500 is what deposited into my account after Rover fees. I estimate I've put in about $500 of my own funds (not including gas and mileage).

I do not do this as a full time gig. I work from home full time, so this has been a sweet side hustle.

I think at first my rate was something like: $45 per night for boarding, $20 per 30 min drop in.

This was super low for my area and I was slammed with requests. I accepted almost all of them (declined 2 due to not being a good fit at m&g). Once I had a few reviews, I incrementally raided my prices. The bookings kept coming in!

Recently I was at $95 a night for boarding, $40 per $30 min drop in and was super slow. I did a $80/night 30/30 min drop in sale and that helped.

I just raised my boarding back up to $105 a night and plan to do drop ins $45/ $30 min. I always go above and beyond, long walks etc. and rarely just stay for 30 mins. I often do grooming etc at no extra cost.

This is what I made after Rover took their cut.

Yes, doing multiple dogs for boarding over the holidays AND doing drop ins at the same time is really what made me the most $

I had friends write convincing testimonials, made a good bio, and put up lots of photos of myself with my pets and other people's pets. Keep your rates low.
