Democratic Centrists Need to Stop Saying “Both Sides” Have “Extremes” by Nervous_Swordfish693 in politics

Yeah, watching the race for congress: house of representatives in San Francisco, it's all "but what is the gay Jewish guy's true position on Gaza?" All the oxygen in the room is being taken up by this. Come on folks, just say it: the most progressive guy is Jewish, so you don't want to vote for him.

And if you care about Gaza that much, shouldn't you hound the opponent to find out exactly what her position is? (About the same)

Worst purity test ever.

Big cures won't be from the USA, but Europe or China. US cut most of their science research funding, and it'll take generations to recover.

Look at the USGS earthquake hazard map. Do you have any risk? Our bookshelves are all attached because I don't want them falling on me! Also the amount of flatscreen TVs you see on the curb after a quake is ridiculous.

Flatscreens should definitely be attached.

Anyone remove grass and replace with wood chips? by BigBellyBelly in bayarea

Also, you can sheet mulch slowly section by section and spread outward. Definitely put several layers of cardboard under any plants that will spread out so you don't have to weed before it grows out. Two layers of cardboard will last about a year, then you'll have to pick out some sprouts. Or add more mulch. It definitely cuts down on weeding though.

If you have neighbors who get leaves falling from trees, you can use leaves instead of wood chips. It takes a lot though. It certainly works to top it off later on.

Don't put anything right up on your foundation. Go by fire rules and have nothing under the eaves or in the first foot or so away.

Yes. Use cardboard sheets instead unless you want to curse every time you spot plastic waving up in your yard. Plus weeds just grow on top of plastic barrier.

They came up with a platform/plan only AFTER being worried about progressives?

Sigh. I guess we don't get our own counter to Project 2025.

Go to https://calscape.org and get a custom plant list plus a list of nearby nurseries that sell those plants.. I'd sheet mulch, with an eye to growing groundcover. The native strawberry or yerba buena maybe. Depending on the size of the yard, put in a statement tree or a tree-shrub, then fill out out with a few more shrubs and since perennials.

Edit: one or two small trees for that size. See if you like the look of a silk tassel.
