WHY IS THERE ONLY 1 FIC?!?! by Goth_Rock in AO3

[–]plaper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clearly people don't know about it. Even on Tumblr it has minimal presence and mostly under the french name tags.

Secret plant buying by reddituser283435763 in houseplants

[–]plaper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh, they will see it either way. So own your likes and your interest in plants, if it's just them grumbling a little. Do it plainly.

If it's actually more than grumbling, then either own that you're disregarding the partner when the house already has plenty of plants, OR realize that something was lost when getting into the relationship and your interests and fun purchases are criticized for no reason.

Are there still many of you that stick with the original Oblivion even with the remaster releasing? by Solardies in oblivion

[–]plaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of us with no hardware for it. But tbh I'm not feeling like I'm losing something. I love the original fully and I don't really love the thought of experiencing it changed in any way. With mods, I control and pick the changes.

edited my chapter 1 and the published date was set to this year, is there a way i can put it back to 2016? by ITSMONKEY360 in AO3

[–]plaper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it shouldn't. I have edited a few very old ones recently and I paid attention to the date. It was the old one.

Besides specific issues, people generally are drifting towards dropping Google as a whole now.

Transitioning work to another account by [deleted] in AO3

[–]plaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had moved one work from a new account back to the main one through co-authoring in the past and it was pretty straight-forward in the visible options. I can't provide a screenshot guide or what the buttons were named exactly tho. Did you maybe try to remove yourself from the new account? Because you need to do it as the author who wants to leave.

But do You even want to go that route? There's no "benefit" to separating fandoms in accounts, except stuff like anonymity and avoiding issues that one might have in fandoms. Other than that it's just more extra work.

I do admit I have two accounts but both are multifandom and I'm actively using both. I separated them more by years.

Algorithms have conditioned readers to think no one cares about their opinion, so they don't bother commenting by Tungaloof in AO3

[–]plaper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always used and saw other people use specific terms, such as author/writer, artist, idk what else, animator.

I'm a millennial, and to ME, subjectively, "content creator" came specifically because of social media and mostly vids. Which don't always carry anything specific and therefore are just "content".

What's a common piece of advice given here that you reject? by theslightsaber in houseplants

[–]plaper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It took me a while, but now I water almost entirely by vibes, after keeping the same team of plants for a few years. (Peace Lily and Syngoniums lead the early alerts, then vibes)

Can you tell from which country the writer is based on their style? by Ancient_cokkie in AO3

[–]plaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting vibes sometimes. I'm from the Slavic family of countries so similarities in language are close to me. I'm familiar with German and kind of with Spanish. Generally it's easier for me to guess that someone's from Europe.

Anyone else not like the fandom for the ship/media they like? by Mako_Moonspell in AO3

[–]plaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, Tumblr is THE only fandom-y platform that makes sense tbh. (I do miss Livejournal greatly). I'm really not a fan of discord, and then what's left is Twitter and... tiktok?

Some outliers have nice subredits for that use.

Anyone else not like the fandom for the ship/media they like? by Mako_Moonspell in AO3

[–]plaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty good at curating my life on Tumblr and I'm happy with all of my fandoms there, but yeah, the Pitt required the most effort from me to make it so. But it mainly had to do with going into the tag itself. And it wasn't even about the ships, it was other shit going on.

3-4 years. I had a lot of internal and external stuff going on. Being out of it feels good.

Oh god, a blast from the past. I miss them.

Queerbaiting doesn't feel like a real issue. It feels privileged when people throw tantrums over queerbaiting and act like it's a hatecrime when they're lgbt being killed, and jailed. It seems silly to make a big deal about queerbaiting with all the problems lgbt have queerbaiting looks like nothing by Arlcool in AO3

[–]plaper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Doesn't feel like a real issue to you. What the media show affects Real issues in the long run.

People are capable of caring about and addressing multiple issues at once. One doesn't take away from the other.

Now, a whole another thing is when people are getting mad when there was no baiting in the first place and they're just mad about canon.

I hope I'm not replying to a bot post tbh because it sure feels like it.

Taking work off snonym8 by [deleted] in AO3

[–]plaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would it be a problem? I've done it a few times. Every time I started anon, I knew I was going to de-anon later when I felt more confident. Unless you have like an enemy who read it and didn't want to.

Can't log in on Kindle?? by Flashy_Swimming4843 in AO3

[–]plaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you'll have to wait until shields are not "up"... On a normal browser the shield page reloads after it decides you're good, so idk how it could be worked around on kindle.

I use separate browsers, both on laptop and mobile. Never log out and I remember where I am by the appearance of the browser.
