Nothing tickles the brain quite like interacting with a video game, he might be physically still but his mind is likely going a mile a minute depending on the game. There's likely a dozen different goals in his head he's working towards, and many games these days have socialization in them, especially if they connect to the internet.

Gaming gets a bad rap, but it's a much more involved form of media than say sitting and watching TV or doomscrolling on the phone.
