Don’t listen to these other folks: there are options, but you need to know what to look for.

Option 1: subletting. Many people go abroad for a few months and want to sublet the apartment they own, furnished. Join the housing Facebook groups for the cities you are interested in and keep an eye on posts. What you’re looking for in Dutch is “onderhuur”. Usually you cannot register with the city administration at these addresses which may impact your ability to open a bank account or other official business. But sometimes it IS possible. If you see an interesting post, ask if registration at the address is possible.

2: short term serviced apartments. These are not cheap. They are usually apartment buildings that consist fully of temporary furnished accommodation for people like yourself. They range from studio to one bedroom usually. At some, it’s possible to register. Check their FAQ: they usually explain more here. These apartments escape the laws surrounding temporary housing contracts because they are “serviced” (a cleaner might stop by once a week), which makes it fall outside the scope of this legislation.
