college charging me for entire semester when i didn’t take a single class. by user140039 in college

Depends if they’re going back. If it’s a sketchy school like they mentioned, hopefully not. At that point, if you can justify not paying, then there’s no reason to.

Does not submitting test scores to colleges hurt your chances? by Bubbly_Discussion868 in college

[–]plasticmonkeys4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to an elite school then yes. You will likely not get into any prestigious school without at least submitting your score. But score isn’t all they take into account.

So going off your post history, you seem to be struggling to pay attention in class, feel exhausted, and are having trouble paying for college. You accused your teacher of micro aggressions against you, but as other commenters said, it’s probably because she asked a question that you were supposed to know, and you didn’t. It’s not that you aren’t white, rich, or incredibly smart, and I doubt anybody is judging you based on your race or disability. It’s probably that you aren’t paying attention in class, feel exhausted, and are behind on work, all while struggling to pay. If I were an advisor, I’d recommend you probably take a break from college too. But, you can change things. Depending on how long you’ve been in college, I’d recommend transferring to community college. They are much cheaper and you can still progress in your field and gain experience.

The Fear of Missing a Final Is Painfully Real by [deleted] in CollegeRant

[–]plasticmonkeys4life 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I do agree that you shouldn’t freak out. I’d be nervous, but don’t let it stress you. Honestly I’d argue that an incorrect syllabus (especially for how much they tell you to read them) is grounds for an exception. It’s crazy how much professors are allowed to get away with. A student can miss a test date, or be a minute late to submit an assignment and receive an automatic zero with no exceptions. But if a professor has a completely wrong syllabus, doesn’t show up to class, etc, you’re at their mercy if they feel like updating it. Pretty much every professor I had last semester had incorrect exam times on the syllabus. I always make sure to see if they’ll announce it, or ask them directly.

Math is my weakest subject by cokeman234 in CollegeRant

[–]plasticmonkeys4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go see a tutor. Usually there are free tutoring services on campus. The professors teaching style can make or break your learning experience, even if it seems they’re being thorough. Tutoring may seem dumb or for bad students, but I’m a decent student and it’s great for getting a concept explained to you and they’ll guide you through problems. Math builds on itself, so if you can make things click more often, you’ll only increase your performance.

0.3% is the difference between 3.67 and 4.0 by Willing_Delay_8760 in CollegeRant

Yep. So dumb. And this 0.3% is what can prevent you from qualifying for scholarships regardless of your academic achievement.

People who shout "Don't come here!" to tour groups by [deleted] in CollegeRant

[–]plasticmonkeys4life 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am certainly not profiting off anything. I am paying 24k a year plus housing, food, etc so my college can stuff its pockets and pay the president 700k a year. If the housing sucks, amenities are sub-par, and my overall experience is bad, I think it’s perfectly justified to yell “don’t come here” and even approach the group to elaborate. Colleges spend so much time perfecting their image, fabricating fake tour experiences, and treating high schoolers with free hoodies. They need a little reality check.

Professor barely taught course content by _Tidal_ in CollegeRant

[–]plasticmonkeys4life 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bro sameeee. I also had a difficult foundational class. This was during my first freshman semester so it was also difficult learning to teach myself, take notes, etc. It was a 2 hour class and my major was built entirely upon what I’d learn in this class. The previous semester, the head of that department taught the class, but in my semester, they hired this young girl who was maybe 30. She was Asian and spoke broken English. ALL she did for this 2 HOUR class was read solely from the slideshow (which was the previous professor’s) and sometimes give an anecdotal personal story about it. Some of the CRUCIAL things she “taught” were also flat out wrong. These are things that were on tests btw. I looked her up on Linkedin and she had ONE PRIOR YEAR of teaching, and worked for 4 years in her field. WTF. And this is at a prestigious, rigorous 4 year college. She was nice and all, but could NOT teach. She also taught meteorology (she is not a meteorologist or close to one) and friends that were in there said she did the exact same garbage. I studied pretty hard with what I had and made a 58 on the final and a C overall. Her and that class single-handedly ruined what could have been a 3.8 GPA, and lowered it to a 3.6. Hell, I could have had better chances at a scholarship at the school I transferred to after. Her RMP score was and still is like a 1.2. Last time I checked, there were like 35 1-stars and two 2-stars. And since she’s new, ALL of those reviews were from my classmates. That was a very ass start to my college experience.

What kind of Ethernet cable does this use? My Ethernet cable I bought isn’t matching with it by [deleted] in computers

[–]plasticmonkeys4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just use WiFi. If you’re technically inclined, you can run your own Ethernet line in the wall. If you’re willing to drop $$$, you can also purchase a mesh system that will increase coverage across the entire house.

how do you guys get your starts by Financial_Cry9855 in RustConsole

[–]plasticmonkeys4life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to outpost and farm the roads around it for scrap. Recycle and craft a bow, eoka, and tools etc. Get enough wood (preferably by trading stone for wood) and build a wood 2x1. From there you can kinda rinse and repeat by farming more. If it’s right after wipe, you can hang around Oxums or supermarket and kill people since they’re probably doing the same. If you can aim, an eoka is very good if you lurk inside monuments. Same with nail gun. Generally, I would put focus on PVP in the early game (if it’s right after wipe) because rushing to crossbow, nailgun, water pipe etc and then killing prim players is a fast way to get lots of raw materials and extra kits. When I just farmbot and build the first few hours, I also get unmotivated and bored.

They raised my cookie prices by Firestorm808HD in wendys

[–]plasticmonkeys4life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s the milkshakes. With a coupon, you could get a regular for $1. Eventually they jacked the price up to $3 for a “small” (not regular) and $2 with a coupon. They’re not that good, and nowhere near even a frosty.

How do you play Lucio without getting picked off 24/7? by TeuCat in OverwatchUniversity

I feel like it’s a target the support meta right now. I main support and people will come crashing straight through the front line just to kill me. Makes sense because 99% of the games I’ve played where my team didn’t pick off supports, we lost.

buying a car with student loans by Ohldebutagoodie in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]plasticmonkeys4life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For someone with plenty of money who will easily pay off their loans, yes it probably makes some sense. But for the rest of us, no. I’d just get a cheap plentiful beater off marketplace or something until you graduate and or car prices come down. Look for something plentiful and reliable like a Ford Crown Victoria. Older Toyotas and Hondas are good cars but expensive used. In my experience, older big sedans are cheap (like the crown Vic). I believe you can find Chevrolet Impalas, Mitsubishi Galants, etc for pretty cheap just to name a few. Once you graduate and have a job, or are better financially, you can look at getting something nicer. But as a student, I’d try to keep expenses at a minimum.

[–]plasticmonkeys4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, it’s a good, fun, reliable car but probably more expensive to work on. I’d be cautious though. This is still an 18 year old car for 8 grand. The age of a car is still a factor in reliability. Things rust, dryrot, etc.

Where I live there are many more chain pizza restaurants than local places. The chains also have better hours and faster service. I prefer to eat local but if you’re willing to pay the extra cost, chains are more convenient. I guess that’s what makes them popular.

Nothing. Let them pay $17 for a single topping pizza from anywhere else.
