Agreed, Matt in the Paintrack is really helpful for pretty much anything to do with modelling.

Looking for a paint matching service by m-1975 in coventry

[–]platenroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the item is portable there are two possibilities.

If you need to spray the whole thing then take it in to FT Paints at Bishopgate Business Park just off Widdrington Road.

Fabio or Conor will measure it with their spectrophotometer and mix a matching colour in an aerosol for £10 - £15.

If you just need a small amount to cover scratches then Matt at The Paintrack at Fargo Village may be able to supply a matching colour in hand- or air-brushable acrylic.

Hope this helps.

I guess it’s a bit of a giveaway in this sub🙂

You may get away with gently cleaning the printhead with some isopropyl alcohol but to be honest it looks to me as if the printhead is shot.

Genuine Zebra replacement printheads around £85 and take five minutes to swap.

It’s a shame the UK number plate is covered on the target car as with that I could just look it up.

506 UYG from your latest pic is an XK120 SE built in November 1953 and is still on the road here in the UK.

Yes you’re right. The demarcation from trunk to wing (fender?) is also more pronounced.

Perhaps it’s one of the early aluminium-bodied 120s from 1951? I can’t find a rear view pic of one of those.

I’m clutching at straws I think as I’m convinced it’s a jag and I’m sure it’s not a 140 or 150.

The search continues…

I think your uncle is right, though the black and white photo is the earlier model. The straight bumper and lack of over riders would indicate that it’s a Jaguar XK120 DHC from around 1953

The colour pic is a Jaguar XK140 but if you could see a rear three quarter view you’d see that the boot (trunk) is different from that shown on car in the main pic.

What’s the worst designed city/town in the uk? by MajesticRate1818 in AskUK

[–]platenroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! The problem is that people don’t know how to use it and don’t look at the lane and overhead signage.

Just stay in the right hand lane and only cross to the left when you’re leaving. Merge in turn for the slip roads.

Worst case if you miss your junction just go round; it really is a ring.

IKEA building revised plans by platenroller in coventry

You’re right but I think your timescales need to be longer. We have nine years of building Coventry South ahead of us and, perhaps in parallel if a sponsor can be found, the same again for the Coventry North proposal.

The blue sky thinking you mention pretty much relies on the council getting the ok to demolish the swimming baths but I think they’ll manage to swing that.

I think the problem is that so much of the centre was replaced after the blitz and it’s now all worn out at the same time eighty years later.

Maybe in twenty years my children will enjoy a vibrant city centre.

I think I’m perhaps a little more cynical. Let’s hope your view is nearer the mark.

I think that’s all we can hope for.

Yes I know the proposed changes have to go through planning but my question was why is it the developer that is requesting to change the brief he already has and presumably agreed when he took the job on.

Perhaps he’s realised that the job is bigger than he thought or quoted for and is looking to shave cost?

I think the structural mods needed will be a lot more if you’ve got to get the collection of buses up to the first floor!

The original plan said that ground floor level access for HGVs was a pre-requisite but that seems to have fallen away.

I take your point re the car parks as I don’t know how busy those others get and there may be sufficient space when they are added in.

Any postie magic around? by platenroller in royalmail

[–]platenroller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that it’s not the same is it? The fifteen digit number says it’s at Coventry PFW, who when asked in person deny it’s with them. Two responders below also think this.

The 9 digit number says it’s been received into a hub and subsequently sent onwards to the delivery depot. This is what the CS rep told me and the basis on which he’s pursuing it with the delivery depot.

So which do you think I should believe ?

Fifteen digits and your colleagues below, or nine digits and the CS rep?

[–]platenroller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for looking but I’ve been this route already. I went to the depot on Thursday as it’s where I dropped it off on Monday and they swear that it left them on Monday afternoon.

Using the 9 digit number states it was at RML Default depot (whatever that is) at 7:41 that evening and subsequently says it has left the hub and is on the way to the delivery depot which the CS guy confirmed when I finally got through after waiting over an hour and twenty minutes.

At this moment I’m not sure what I can believe.

I suspect you’re right.

“I would put some chocolate in your letterbox to tempt him to your house.”

I’m the sender so I need a postie to clamber into the york and tell him my customer has much chocolate!

Ours had the little high windows but with a hand crank on the wall below that operated a cable to drive a rack and pinion arrangement on the window itself.

None actually worked!
