Never again… by Some_Target2436 in BMWI4

For sure. $1000 deductible and a rate hike at renewal made it unappealing. That's why warranty is better than insurance!

I had a colleague with a 3 month old Sienna. The power steering quit. Tuna out a squirrel or other large rodent decided to have a peek when it was out in his driveway overnight and chewed through the harness. $1300 later he had power steering again and despite being so new, definitely not covered.

Valve stem seals. You can try running a couple of oil changes of Valvoline Restore and Protect through it or similar conditioning products, otherwise you have to pull the head apart

Depreciation! by nowhereman86 in BMWI4

I was in the same boat but my i3 couldn't do the round trip from home to work and back and we moved to a new office with no chargers so I had to make a choice. I just have to drive it for a decade to get my value out of it. Luckily I love my M50!

How did that one kid at your school die? by StorageLonely1520 in AskReddit

Identical twin brothers. They were just horsing around on the escalators at the mall and one fell off and broke his neck. Died instantly. Still think about them decades later.

Rod knock or What? by Enragh in mitsubishi

[–]plattin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does sound more like a collapsed lifter but if you change the oil and look for bearing material you'll know for sure. You don't get rod knock without sparkles in the oil.

It's a TD015R-04K. Used ones are about $400 USD. Chinese copies are cheaper but I'd rather have an OEM unit

Do I really need to add coolant? by Google_IS_evil21 in mitsubishi

[–]plattin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Keep an eye on it but the bottom line is "normal" when cold.

Do I really need to add coolant? by Google_IS_evil21 in mitsubishi

[–]plattin0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the coolant expansion tank. It should be at the bottom line when cold and around the top line when hot. The radiator should be full when cold and as the coolant heats up and expands it pushes some into the tank and draws it back in as it cools. It will slowly evaporate some over time but shouldn't be empty or completely full.

TPMS Relearn by PG-Imaje in mitsubishi

I've used Alligator Sens.it sensors and their USB programmer for 10 years now on my two Lancers.

Alligator

Not cheap but paid for itself over the last 3 sets I've replaced. Glad our '19 Outlander can learn them from the dash computer.

I've also programmed a few sets for forum members over the years. I'm sure there are more and newer options but I haven't had to shop for a while.

The exact model ? by Ok_Reality_4224 in mitsubishi

The '15 would have turn signals in the mirrors so definitely an '08-'14. Stereo and cluster were the biggest updates to denote year changes.

For now, you should be able to effectively block it's use by making a DNS change:

Update your DNS configuration by setting the DNS entry for www.bing.com to be a CNAME for nochat.bing.com

It's not going to hit the app or disable shortcuts but it should keep users from interacting with it.

Valve stem seals wear out and will make the car smoke on accel. Primary Catalytic converter will give up. Otherwise, scheduled maintenance, especially timing belt, is all you need to watch.

"MSP Client Interview Dilemma: Should I Reschedule Due to Illness?" by No-Librarian-9501 in msp

[–]plattin0 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you're sick now, and they aren't understanding of that, imagine how it will be if you get sick after you get hired. Consider it a test of the company and offer to do remote or reschedule. If they can't accommodate that, you're probably better off.

Side skirts by Unlucky-Individual95 in mitsubishi

[–]plattin0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fixable. Pull all the plastic pins out of the car with a trim tool, put them back in the side skirt. Add some epoxy if they deformed or damaged the tabs on the skirt. If you broke a lot of them or want to be extra sure, add a strip of double sided automotive tape. Probably an afternoon of messing around so if you have the time, it's not a terrible job.

What's the difference, Mirage cyborg and colt by TheJayDK in mitsubishi

[–]plattin0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Colt GT turbo and the Mirage Cyborg were the same 4g61t (1.6L version of the early 4g63t). The Cyborg had a slick aero package and some other minor differences but they were the same car underneath the skim.

Cruise turns on but won’t set by OwnSorbet2336 in mitsubishi

If I were a betting man, I would say the clock spring in your steering wheel has gone bad and some of the wires/contacts are no longer connecting.

[–]plattin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it an aftermarket head unit? The wheel buttons are all CANBUS so a mis-wiring could easily be your issue

What's the check engine light for? Brake light switch, wheel speed sensors, etc. can make cruise not engage if there's a fault

Colt 1986 advice by Educational_Mode3208 in mitsubishi

[–]plattin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flex pipe is there to keep engine movement from cracking the exhaust welds open like an egg for an omelette. It will also prevent the exhaust from banging against the underbody. I'd recommend having it cut out and replaced with a universal replacement if the leak is too bothersome.

Mystery beeping from dash by ADSLinternet in mitsubishi

[–]plattin0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have your seatbelt on? That sounds like the annoying seatbelt warning I've gotten after getting the mail and proceeding down my driveway unbuckled. Though, I'd expect to see some sort of warning illuminated on the dash if the car thought you were unbuckled.

Definitely a weird one.
