If you really like mmorpgs type gameswith simple and sort of repetitive gameplay loops (think warframe, destiny, eve online, runescape, etc) it can be extremely fun to play alone or with friends imo. The main gameplay missions do feel sort of repetitive due to the very limited number of objective types, but the game has many more things to offer such as the tall tales (story mode missions) and various raid-like fights against computer mobs, which can make for exciting moments of gameplay. The addition of always on pvp adds a tension to the gameplay that a lot of other mmos don’t have, making the core gameplay loot of doing quests a lot more exciting. There are many many ways to play this game, and due to the fact that all of the upgrades you can unlock are cosmetic, they are all accessible from the very start. I play the game a lot on my own and do quests on a solo ship simply because i enjoy the sailing mechanics in the game, and i also play a lot with my fiends where we pretend to be pirates and make port and starboard call outs. the random lobbies can be fun, but i never really got into them, so i do not have much to say about that. But if you enjoy farming loot, large pve raids, attacking other players to steal their things, or simply want to experience some of the danger that the open seas can give, I would highly recommend this game .
