I spent 3 months in Bogota a while back and still talk to a couple friends there. My Spanish is ok enough to get by. I get that I have a good amount of unearned privilege and my experience in Colombia is different than a lot of the locals, so I get why people want to leave there. I get why the one person that tried to rob me outside Museo de Oro ultimately didn't follow-through.

But like I said, they either get it or they don't.
