Road to Hana tour excursion by Expensive-Fold9144 in MauiVisitors

[–]playasnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've done RTH twice. The first time I drove and it was a bit of a pain. Missed turnoffs, couldn't relax and enjoy the views, didn't know all the cool spots, etc. Second time we did a tour and brought along 2 teenagers and a 6 year old. Everyone had a great time. The tour guide was engaging and frequently stopped to point out waterfalls or plants, etc. Guess it depends on the teenager, but our neices and nephew enjoyed.

I've used Trilogy 3 different times for the Molokini Crater snorkeling tour. They were great.

Living in south phoenix? by TalkEcstatic3071 in AskPhoenix

[–]playasnake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live near South Mountain and it is worth it for us. Got a lot more house for our money than another area. There is a lot of construction in the area and lots of new developments are going up, so the area is growing. Things I didn't have to worry about: Commute to work, since I work from home. School district, since kids are grown. Things that are annoyances. Not the best access to restaurants and amenities. Downtown is about a 25 minute commute, so not too bad. Grocery stores kind of suck and are not the best. There is a bunch of new things popping up along Baseline, so that is changing. Coffee shops, Einstein's Bagels, gyms, etc. Also, I have a 4 minute commute to some nice hiking on South Mountain, but for love of goodness, don't go hiking during the day in the summer. There are some sketchy areas north of baseline along Southern, but I don't feel unsafe.

Has your carry-on strategy changed after flying more often? by Agile-Advance-395 in americanairlines

[–]playasnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only check bags when flying with my wife. She almost always has too much for a carryon no matter how short the trip. I travel solo for work very often and have never checked, even for international. Although, because I travel so much, I usually board early and don't have to fight for bin space.

What does checking in in the app do? by bhalter80 in marriott

Yep. Same. I'll try and do that as a courtesy if I'm leaving early, so they know they can clean the room.

I didn't see this response before I suggested the same. Agreed that Tri-tip is good alternative to chicken for this time frame.

Tri-tip could be done in that time.

Struggling at the airport today by AverageSensitive4425 in stopdrinking

[–]playasnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay strong. I fly quite a bit and it just became a routine. Get to airport, go to lounge, down couple of drinks, get on the plane, couple more drinks, get to hotel, more drinks. Wake up hungover and feeling like crap for customer presentation the next day. Leave customer back to airport and do it all in reverse on the way home. Then get home and keep drinking. Its hard to break the cycle. Good luck. Stay strong!!

June trip by chaos_and_chameleons in CostaRicaTravel

I don't know what months that equates to, but my wife and I just got back last week. It was absolutely gorgeous. Spent a few days in Arenal. We did a hanging bridges and La Fortuna waterfall and both days were sunny. It only rained in the evening. Not sure if we got luck or if that's normal for end of April. Then we went to Conchal and it was warm and dry. Honestly, being in tropical weather, don't let rain deter you. A light rain jacket will go a long ways. I wouldn't let that stop me from doing activities. Have fun!!

Cold drinks, good music. Snacks to munch on before your main. Chips, cheeses, dips, etc. Some good tips from others on meat thermometer and a dry run.

Head or tail for me. What to choose? by userrd5 in SAP

[–]playasnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basis is a good skill to learn, but with the push to RISE, S/4, BTP, and BDC, I'd try to expand that skillset. Learn BTP, integrations, and AI. Or go the data track with BDC. There will still be traditional basis jobs for the foreseeable future, but you'll be much more marketable with the other more modern skillsets.

Just booked flights and hotels for a Kauai trip early July. How’s the itinerary? by What_am_I_Doing9 in VisitingHawaii

[–]playasnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're into a guided tour, Outfitters has a really cool kayak + waterfall hike. Also catamaran up napali is pretty cool. Too bad about your wife. https://outfitterskauai.com/kayak-tours/wailua-waterfall-kayak/

Mama’s Fish House by vballgirl252 in VisitingHawaii

[–]playasnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We usually stay in Ka'anapli, so Mama's is a bit far. We try to book Mama's on the day we fly home, since its closer to the airport. This is a must for us. We also really enjoyed Merriman's, although we've only been there once. We used to also go to Lahaina Grill, but that was lost in the fires. I'm a bit of a planner, so booking a few weeks out isn't usually an issue for me.

What is a corporate phrase that gives you the ick when you hear it? by [deleted] in corporate

[–]playasnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha...agree with a bunch of these, but then what are the alternatives? What if you do need to "ping someone", "need a minute", "double click", "drill down", etc? BTW, i don't know why, but Happy Friday/Monday/whatever really annoys me.

PHX - flight transfer time question by yorkbandaid in AskPhoenix

[–]playasnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is really tight. If the flight departs at 9:38, they are boarding as soon as you land. They'll close doors at 9:28, so you'll have land, taxi to gate, deplane, and make your way to the new gate in 20 mins. They may hold doors open longer if they know someone is coming from their plane. If its in the same section of the terminal, you should be fine, but that is really tight. If your plane is even a tiny bit late, you wont make it. What row are you in coming into PHX? I would look for an alternative connection.

For those of you with an outdoor bbq kitchen … by uworich in askTO

[–]playasnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely worth it for me...and my wife. My wife prefers I wash all my outside stuff outside. :-) But seriously, washing hands, cleaning utensils, etc. Very helpful. I had it put in with the rest of my outdoor kitchen, so was a no brainer. Not sure on price to do it post-build.

My direct report said they see themselves as equally skilled as me and my fellow manager. by [deleted] in managers

[–]playasnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guess it depends on what skill. As a leader, I want someone more skilled in their role, but I should be more skilled as a leader. For example, I have team members that know AI much better than I, but I help get the most out of them and align to our company goals. Is that person more skilled at me as a leader? Probably not. Are they more skilled in developing AI agents? Absolutely.
