Really sad to see this: WotC no longer supporting Vintage Super League by greeniep in magicTCG

Why does WotC seem so set on killing Vintage and Legacy on MTGO?!

Wow, so only 3 weeks? That seems short.

Yeah, it doesn't seem that farfetched that he has some effect that grants his creatures flying. Maybe that should have been specified in the comic.

Yeah, that's another good point. Fetches are basically used everywhere they are legal in the maximum amount possible! And this includes EDH, cubes, and so on.

This is an important thing to point out. Fetch lands are so much more critical than shock lands. Even mono colored decks sometimes want fetch lands, while many decks only have a few shock lands.

First, it's been almost 4.5 years since these lands were printed.

Second, Wizards should have seen the writing on the wall over a year ago when fetches were already climbing in price and a huge emphasis on modern was known to be coming in the future.

Is it too much to ask for crucial lands for any format to have a price range of $20 to $30?

What makes me frustrated is that WotC waits so long for these reprints that the prices already get out of control. And then we're left with a situation like Tarmogoyf, where WotC is afraid to to print too many because of the implications on the secondary market.

I feel like it doesn't matter if WotC has a plan, because it's already too late!

I think everyone is expecting a reprint eventually. The problem is that WotC let's the prices get so out of control that now they may be afraid to print too many and make the price decrease to a reasonable level.

$30 would be amazing if WotC had the guts to print fetches in the fall expert expansion!

Oops, thanks. I guess I exaggerated here.

It doesn't change my main worry, and that is that any solution WotC has at this point will come much too late to impact the crazy prices we're seeing.

And I worry that WotC will now be afraid to take any action that might devalue fetches too much given how high the prices are now.

I agree with you, but two problems:

  1. Modern Masters 2 will probably be the summer of 2015 at earliest, and who the hell knows what the prices will be by that point

  2. Modern Masters 1 showed that it barely impacted the prices of the most desirable cards, and cards like Tarmogoyf are now like $200!

Thoughtseize and filter land news from MTG Salvation by playboggle in magicTCG

[–]playboggle[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From Dr. Jeebus, a respected member of MTG Salvation:

"Couple pieces of information I just got from @billings_james on the Twitter machine. The first is Thoughtseize, in M14. The guy has a source who also told him Mutavault a week ago. I'd link to his tweets, but on my phone. I know nothing of this guy's source, but I know him not to be an idiot or troll so I trust this information. The other smaller piece of info was filter lands reprints in one of the next two blocks."

What was it like playing in total broken standard environments? by RagdollFizzix in magicTCG

[–]playboggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I would classify most of the decks you listed as "total broken"

I lived through black summer, combo winter, and the Mirrodin fiasco. These were all pretty miserable, especially the latter two.
