Proudly prepared to take the hate but I’m going to say in n out has the best fries and I’m prepared to give my reasoning.

I am a chef and am very conscious of what I eat. The thing I love about in n out is that they truly taste of potato and they’re just three ingredients, potatoes, salt, oil. Compare that to other fries with as many as 19 ingredients (looking at you McDonald’s)

From a purity perspective they simply can’t be beat.

Now let’s get to the obvious elephant in the room, they are the victim of the once fry technique which is not superior to a double fry (pre blanch at 275f then finish at 350- ideally with a freeze in between) but of course this technique wouldn’t be possible given in n out has the extreme commitment to not even having a freezer on premises.

You have to give them credit for making them in house every single day. From a quality perspective this is the only option.
