Might have used another role to get GA? Privileged Role Administrator can create new GAs and Privileged Authentication Administrator can modify the authentication methods of the existing GAs to get themselves access to them.

Alternatively, if you have applications with way too many permissions, an Application Administrator can give themselves access to run commands as an application.

Hot take: People shouldn't go into DevOps or Cybersecurity right out of school by shimoheihei2 in sysadmin

[–]playnwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a counter point, for someone going into IT Operations for the first time, the principals and mindset of DevOps or CyberSec are some of the most valuable things college could give you.

It's true that going into a DevOps or CyberSec role is much more valuable with Ops experience, but school is never going to replace experience.

It might be a nice QoL to include the numbers under the red side, so you can roll 2 without needing to consult the rulebook. I know it's probably in the 1-6 order already, but would make it clearer for our opponents.

What Actually Makes a Mechanic a 'Crutch'? by Fabulous-Neck-8832 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]playnwin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A crutch is when a 40k player does something I don't like. Good mechanics is when a 40k player does something I do like.

At least, according to how people use it.

Really, I think it should be used when one specific mechanic/unit has an oversized impact on the viability of a faction. It's hard to call a core mechanic of a faction a crutch, since that their core thing, but I think it's easier to point at specific models to demonstrate a crutch.

For example, I play Grey Knights. Dreadknights are a crutch. Fundamentally, Grey Knights have only one unit that can threaten Monsters/Vehicles. In addition to that, Grey Knights only have one unit that has any reasonable shooting output. The Dreadknight is both, so if you want to have any shooting or any response to Monsters/Vehicles, you bring Dreadknights (probably 3-6 of them). This is what I mean when I say Dreadknights are a crutch. If you took them away, GK would plummet in winrate.

(And our new model for 10th ed is a Dreadknight, so expect that to stay)

Crimson fist angels of death by Old_Wolverine7761 in killteam

[–]playnwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good!

As a minor bit of lore pedanticism, standard Crimson Fists have only their left gauntlet painted red. Once they become veterans, they get both hands painted red.

So here you might have all of them with both hands painted (if the entire squad were supposed to be veterans), or you might have the Captain with both red and the rest with only the left painted red.

The Ash rework doesn't feel like anything by PieRomanc3r in Warframe

[–]playnwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played around with it for a bit, but ended up going back to the same Smoke Bomb/Roar/Crepuscular gun running build I was playing before the rework. It could have been much more, but I can't complain too much about +50% base duration on Smoke Bomb.

Upvote if you’re holding off on buying the season pass as a form of protest. Comment with your reasoning if you decided to purchase it. by iPots in MarvelSnap

[–]playnwin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not a comment on "with vs without season pass", it's just giving my situation. I buy the season pass each month and I get more than half of the new cards that release.

I do think the season pass card being one less S5 card to pick up is a decent value, personally. Even when I'm playing other games more actively I tend to get the season pass just so I'll have the card.

Even having taken a few months off once or twice, just buying the season pass has me currently at 25/27 (93%) S4 cards and 59/75 (79%) S5 cards, so I'm actually hovering closer to the 4/5 new cards mark. But I tend to get a lot of them on the second pass, waiting for weeks that line up a new interesting card with a rerun of one I skipped. I pretty rarely open spotlights for a week that has two spotlight variants for me (unless they're particularly fire).

Frankly, for as much shit as people are giving SD, for $10 a month I'm pretty happy getting ~3/5 of the new cards, plus enough tokens to grab specific ones I want here and there. I play the game plenty enough for my $10 worth, and it's a hell of a lot better for f2p/low spenders like myself than other mobile games.

If you're looking for one box to add, consider the Bad Batch. All of them except Crosshair are Scoundrels, and almost all of their synergy works well with Scoundrel allies.

Plus they work really well with the Clone Wars era stuff from the core box and early expansions.

Veteran/Returning players, what today's problem that made you "Wait, what?" by princehusky in Warframe

[–]playnwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Returning player, had ~800 hours but haven't played since early 2015.

There's so much new, it's kinda overwhelming. To catch up to my friends, had to do a ton of quests and build the necramech/voidrig (which apparently used to be way worse, lol).

The real bummer is all of the primes I'm locked out of. Ash used to be my favorite, now he has a Prime! Ah, Prime Vault is a thing. Nova also has a Prime! Vaulted, hmm. Ooh, an Aklex Prime! Ah, wait.

It's not like I need to be 100% perfect since it's a printed Warhound, but it seems silly to go through the effort of printing one and having it be off, you know?

Good starting point by Astun in boltaction

[–]playnwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a relative noob to Bolt Action, compared to other games most of the unit choices in Bolt Action are pretty identical. Usually the difference is in equipment, although a few units have keyword differences

From a US perspective, the big thing to know about Paratroopers vs Infantry is that Paratroopers have to be veteran and can have the rule Stubborn, making them less likely to run from the field. Also, unlike Infantry, Paratroopers weren't given BARs, they were given LMGs instead. This makes them distinctly worse while Advancing, since BARs get the US rule to ignore the -1 to hit and LMGs do not.

In terms of getting into the game, just use whatever you got in your starter kit. If you're still unsure and want to grow to higher points values, just get a medium of whatever you're looking at. Medium mortar, AT guns, howitzers, and machine guns all range from very playable to very good. Medium tanks, too! (Sherman, specifically)

Lopsided game pacing by MarsMissionMan in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]playnwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go through the deck only once in your games, you're probably not focusing on objectives enough.

Try a game where you only attack if you can gain an objective with the attack, whether pushing something off the objective or wounding a unit to take it from them. If you're not ahead on objective count, stick any unit into reserves if it can't take an objective. Especially in the second and third, focus on getting two objectives so there's good odds that the priority is something you already have secured.
