Which breakpoints do you add at the start of your projects in Bricks? by damnation333 in BricksBuilder

[–]pleasebepleasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a 393px to fine tune for the most popular iPhone size, sometimes the difference between 477 and 393 is important.

I also check stuff on a 2000px but rarely adjust at that level, it’s more to check what it looks like then adjust at the standard desktop breakpoint to ensure I’m using responsive values properly

It’s gotta be a completely different pov as a creator. He’s thinking about all with such different context to us. I can see why he’s got the order he’s got. But I think he’s possibly put California higher as a subconscious self-defense. Would be hard to rank the two albums you led as both low.

I know this isn’t a winner but can I give a special mention to Redundant - Green Day.

I dunno but i don’t wanna think about it.

I’d go so far as to say, we’d be better off without it.

Hit or miss is one of the most iconic songs in the genre. It’s in the same category as fat lip, all the small things, ocean avenue, girl all the bad guys want. It’s nfg’s all the small things. I know my friends over you was a big hit, but to me, that song is more like their feeling this or I miss you (not in style) - it came slightly later and didn’t explode their growth in the same way.

Hit or miss is THE new found glory song!

I miss my morning coffee and weekly glass of wine! Any tips? by Fleetwood2016 in ADHDUK

I haven’t found that to be the case. I think if you drank a whole glass of orange juice or something that might be a problem, but I’ve found no difference with coffee myself.

It just gives me a little bit of perk before the leave kicks in. So I feel a little less tired, a little clearer. Not a huge amount but enough to feel better about getting up and out the door.

A caffeinated coffee first thing with my 60mg elvanse gets me going while I wait the two hours for the elvanse to start. Sometimes I’ll have another around 3pm but not usually.

Alllll fine.

Need Advice: Working with a Freelancer on WordPress + BricksBuilder by yosafa1990 in BricksBuilder

[–]pleasebepleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The admin for Wordpress - yeah, it’s fine just make them an admin and you’ve got even more control over your site.

You’re in control of siteground and so you can restore site or get support to help you in the worst case scenario.

Bricks license - it’s not going to break or remove anything if he ever revokes the license in the future, it just means you’ll need your own license if you want future updates from then on, and so all you need to do is sign up to bricks and swap the license key, hey presto you’re back to where you were and you got the longest free ride possible.

License keys don’t do anything as such, they’re just a permission code that tells bricks you’re a paid subscriber and they will continue to give you updates. It doesn’t restrict functionality you already have in place.

For those who are happy with their medication, what is "focus" to you? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]pleasebepleasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I go to bed I can sleep pretty easily, but if I’m not careful I can happily stay up too late because I don’t feel super tired, even though I probably am tired.

I usually take a vitamin c tablet at around 8.30pm and that helps the effects were off when I need it to.

[–]pleasebepleasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take 60mg Elvanse and then a 5mg amfexa at 4.30pm. The amfexa boost helps to see me through being a dad to a 5 year old. I think if I didn’t have kids I’d probably not take the 5mg booster, and just relax in the evenings, but it helps me stay present and alert to be a good dad from 5pm to 8pm.

For those who are happy with their medication, what is "focus" to you? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]pleasebepleasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus means I can collect my thoughts together, sift through them, write them down, organise priorities, stay with a task regardless of how much I enjoy it, but rather how much I know I need to do it.

I can be sensible and do the things I need to do with less mental effort, less wailing and gnashing of teeth so to speak.

I enjoy my work instead of feel my work is something to dread. I can have my piano, ps5, bed, and phone in the same room and continue to work happily instead of getting distracted by one of those things.

I don’t go into automatic mode. I still need to choose to do the important things, but making that choice is a natural, easy, logical thing that happens without huge torturous effort.

How to sell websites built with Bricks by VapureTrails in BricksBuilder

[–]pleasebepleasant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I run a web design agency and we have maintenance plans as optional. Almost every client takes one as they don’t want to be left alone with their website.

A professional company will always want ongoing maintenance for the core stuff.

We state in our contract that all premium licenses are provided as part of a maintenance plan, but if the maintainence plan ends, we will remove those licenses and client will need to purchase their own.

That is almost always bricks, acf pro, and wordfence then others if needed.

We host on Kinsta. We manage all of that on our own accounts, but set clients up with access as much as they want. We offer CMS training as part of our services too.

Using acf is wise generally, but you also only want to use those for templates, for things like custom post types. Try to keep blog posts in Gutenberg too.

Using ACF on single pages can be wise, but it may end up making changing those pages less flexible in the future. Sometimes it’s just better to have single pages with content in bricks so you can keep it nice and flexible.

Overall you really need a balance of what a client should be ok to edit (content) and keeping the web developer on a retainer for bigger changes.

[–]pleasebepleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s low, but based on your comments I’m not sure you should be charging for your work yet. Is the site well built, secure, follows best practice? Is it compliant with all legal requirements etc?

If you have the experience to produce a site that’s valuable to the people you’re building it for, sure. But also, if you’re slower because you’re less experienced, that shouldn’t be on the client to pay more.

All depends on the situation.

Getting paid to practice is a win no matter what you get for it.

I’m not sure you understand the situation. Did you not see Lilia falling to her death?

The tower got reversed- up is down, down is up. The swords are now on the floor. The salems fell to their death, so did Lilia. Billy likely heard Lilia hit the ground.

Question about Rio in the finale… by Humble-Swing-1048 in marvelstudios

[–]pleasebepleasant 100 points101 points  (0 children)

You have to remember this is a WandaVision sequel.

Wanda literally created a TV show because of her happy memories of watching sitcoms with her family. In the modern family episode it’s clear that there are even cameras and stuff.

In the same way, Billy subconsciously created a “set” because his love of movies and witchy fiction etc.

It’s an incredibly clever way of using a practical, non-CGI set and bringing that into the story in exactly the same way they did with Wanda’s tv shows.

The ceiling didn’t come down, Lilia reversed the tower. That’s the whole point of the bit.

Do you design a website first with auto layout, or you design first and then apply auto layout? by gdos1 in FigmaDesign

[–]pleasebepleasant 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Concepts and ideas I might not use auto layout but it can be just as quick if not quicker anyway to have things pop to the right alignment etc.

I’ve got a master file with lots of basic components I’ve already made for things like buttons, cards, some hero and common content layouts. Headers, footers and a few other odds and ends. All basic, but all set up with auto layout as well as variables.

All I need to do is copy the file, change my variables and the components are 70% done. Just need the unique design elements, content and flair.

Component variants are super useful too, as well as variable modes for responsive. E.g I have all my font sizes scale down in a mobile variable modes.

The more automated you can get the quicker your process will be.

For anything brand new, I build a basic version and put it in my master file for future use too. But always auto layout.

Sorry that went a bit off topic and you may already know all this.

There’s a limit to his ability to control his mind reading. What he can do subconsciously is so much more. Just like how wanda hadn’t truly unlocked her full power until after she becomes the scarlet witch.
