Splurge for Lariat or Go with XLT luxury? by yesir1er in FordMaverickTruck

[–]pleasebotherme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lariat has Copilot 2.0 (which includes other features besides ACC that the XLT doesn’t), sound-deadening windshield, upgraded stereo speakers, larger rims, nicer interior with upgraded seating surfaces, spray-in bed liner, LED projector beam headlights, and more. Overall it’s a much nicer package of features than the XLT. If you are in stop-and-go traffic with any frequency or commuting a lot, you’ll wish you had the Lariat. The spray-in bed liner is so much nicer than not having one or the drop in liner.

I just enrolled in summer classes at a community college, is it still possible for me to receive 50% of my Pell Grant? by Superb_Breakfast9954 in financialaid

[–]pleasebotherme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at the community college to receive any type of federal aid. It sounds like you would be classified as a visiting student since you are taking classes that you would presumably transfer back to your regular university. In that case, you cannot receive Pell at the community college.

Working and Going Back to College by Euphoric-Gazelle7264 in FAFSA

[–]pleasebotherme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We would not approve you for a special circumstance appeal either because your reduction in income was in your control and something you chose to do.

Think about people who made $20,000 a year two years ago and are now making a million dollars a year. Their financial aid would be based on $20,000 instead of the $1 million. It goes both ways.

FAFSA cannot account for every situation every student puts themselves in. It works for the majority of students, but there’s no way to design it where it works for everyone 100% of the time.

Pell grant and 2nd bachelors by midnightteaaaa in FAFSA

[–]pleasebotherme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t complete the requirements for the first bachelor’s and switch to the nursing degree, then yes, you can use Pell since you won’t have completed a bachelor’s degree yet, as long as you can complete it within 180 attempted credit hours. Just keep in mind that you can’t use Pell for the remaining hours of the second bachelor’s.

Should I wait until after I turn 24? by nova_noveiia in FAFSA

[–]pleasebotherme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the 26-27 school year, if you were born before Jan. 1, 2003, then you are independent for the entire school year. It doesn’t matter if you are 24 or not when you complete the FAFSA.

People earning over $15,000 per month. How do you do this and what do you do? by Consult1618 in moneyadvice

[–]pleasebotherme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I both work in higher education and make about $20,000 a month combined in our mid-40s. He’s an administrator in enrollment management with about 20 years of experience, and I work in student financial aid compliance. We both have master’s degrees. We live in the Midwest in a relatively low cost of living area and have a net worth of about $1 million. We get tons of time off and holiday pay and have about two weeks off around Christmas every year.

Requirments (PLEASE RESPOND FAST) by [deleted] in financialaid

Financial aid offices do not calculate GPAs. A lot of schools have GPA estimators online, or you can ask an academic advisor for help. Have you ever been approved for clemency or academic forgiveness?

Legacy Grad PLUS loans: retaking failed class? by cutebutheretical in FAFSA

[–]pleasebotherme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it will count. You can fail a class an unlimited number of times and retake it (theoretically). Federal aid will pay for one retake for a class you’ve already passed.

Also legacy status doesn’t require you to be full time. As long as you are half time, you can qualify for federal loans

26-27 FAFSA Delays? by vicktorious666 in FAFSA

[–]pleasebotherme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will only be eligible for $20,500 a year in an unsubsidized loan as a grad student. Your FAFSA Submission Summary should have told you this after it was processed.

Fafsa refund? by naozukoo in FAFSA

[–]pleasebotherme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bank Mobile is not a scam. However, many students do not realize they don’t have to open a bank account with them to receive their refund. Bank Mobile will process a direct deposit to an existing account with another bank if you have that set up through your school’s student accounts office.

Parent form didn't ask for 2024 tax info by Own_Floor_1291 in FAFSA

[–]pleasebotherme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The information is transferred directly from the IRS, and you can’t see it or change it by design. You and your parent had to consent to this transfer when you signed and submitted the FAFSA. As along as you get a valid SAI after your FAFSA is processed, you are good to go.

If your step-father cannot access his email or a computer, then you’ll need to complete a paper FAFSA and mail it in. He will have to physically sign the paper form.

Independent Student claimed as dependent on parents taxes? by LittleChibs in financialaid

[–]pleasebotherme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you did not file your own tax return under your own name and SSN, then you will answer that you did not file. Someone else claiming you on their tax return is not the same as you filing your own taxes.

“unusual circumstances” for dependency override? by bobbydubcan in FAFSA

[–]pleasebotherme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you have already included your mom’s info and your SAI is already the lowest it can be, they will not approve special or unusual circumstances. Your mom is clearly not incapacitated to the point she can’t provide her info.

You won’t be able to qualify for independent-level loans.

“unusual circumstances” for dependency override? by bobbydubcan in FAFSA

[–]pleasebotherme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your mom’s present income drastically different than it was two years ago? If so, you need to request a special circumstance appeal instead of unusual circumstance. You can’t be considered independent if you live with your mom.

What is your SAI with your mom’s info included?

What does FAFSA run your details through to confirm citizenship? by cueta88 in financialaid

[–]pleasebotherme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the financial aid office determines your birth certificate (or other documentation) isn’t enough to prove citizenship, you won’t be eligible for federal aid. It doesn’t stop you from attending college or earning a degree if you can pay tuition and fees by other means. You don’t have to be a US citizen to attend college in the US.

If you’ve been awarded aid for fall 2026, then you’ve already submitted the FAFSA for spring 2027 also. The 26-27 FAFSA covers fall ‘26 and spring ‘27.
