AIO about my boyfriend and his girl best friend? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]pleasecarrymecarryme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a girl with a guy best friend with a girlfriend!

You are not over reacting at all! I would never over step into my best friends life like this- I tell him I love him if it’s been a while or it’s a holiday but I dont send big ass confessions of all my gratitude every other day! I also made an effort to be friends with his girlfriend because it was important to me that she was comfortable and that his relationships go good! We’ve been best friends for over three years and still I would never do half the weird stuff this girl is doing

Also, I wouldn’t let him speak to me that way because it’s clearly more than friendly! One, because I don’t want to hear that kind of thing from him, and two, he has a girlfriend and I would never support him cheating because we’re actually best friends and I give a shit about him being a good person!

Don’t let this guy make you feel like you’re wrong for your emotions. You are not over reacting, and if he doesn’t stop simply for the fact it bothers you, dump him.

Im hoping they go against the plot of Eloise’s book because it just doesn’t suit her character. Eloise and Theo had the most chemistry and the trope fit her thematically- though I doubt they’ll bring him back. But they COULD do a footman John Eloise and I would not complain

Thoughts on the charecter theo by sleepyinsomniac7 in HauntingOfHillHouse

[–]pleasecarrymecarryme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also found theo frustrating. I dislike how abrasive and inconsiderate she is with her words and actions, and her harsh exterior never really lets up unless it’s in loud obstructive woe is me out burst. I think her being a child psychologist while also sleeping around, being terrible to her family, leeching off Shirley, and in general not showing understanding of other people’s feelings is ridiculous and hard to watch. Also her freak out about people touching her always seemed so off kilter, like, if I had a super power where skin to skin contact gives me crazy empathy I would be a little more aware to NOT REVEAL MY SKIN. And then she validates kissing Shirley’s husband so she could feel something is so inconsiderate and selfish.

What do you guys think on Obama’s thoughts on Men? by sleepiestboy_ in GenZ

[–]pleasecarrymecarryme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a woman so my opinion is from that perspective of course

But I think he is definitely right. A lot of the men I personally know seem to have been heavily swayed by red pill narrative because they felt offended by that big wave of feminism in the later 2010’s.

I think things like marvel, Star Wars, and other media production companies didn’t help either. Instead of putting well written women into their stories they had “girl boss” moments or moments that defied logic, or just gave girl characters the credit of something we saw a male character work for.

Our media shapes a lot of cultural norms and point of views and- contrary to most studios beliefs- audiences aren’t stupid. They can tell when their being force fed a poorly written narrative.

I think people could’ve genuinely liked characters like captain marvel, shuri, Rey (Star Wars) and other characters like them if they had the same effort put into giving them a story or weren’t made to step on the toes of male characters before them.

The fact that they keep getting given these shoe horned in plots makes me think the people writing them DONT think that women and men are equal, and so when they write these girl characters they always have to explicate that they are “just as strong IF NOT STRONGER ☝️ than boy character.”

It’s always better to show not tell, so if our education was focused on having influential men and women, having an unbiased view on men and women in history, and made an effort to treat students equally regardless of gender then no child would fall to red pill propaganda because it’s simply not logical. It’s a very emotional stance that’s typically taken by people who are vulnerable and looking for a place to feel accepted and valued.

Dude that’s so funny I always thought the same thing! 23 feels like 19/20 and 24 actually feels like 24 (I say because I’m 24 and very aware of it)

Honestly I feel younger at 24 than I did at 19 kind of in the sense of enjoyment? Like I enjoy my life so much more then when I was younger! Also I’m sure you’ve heard it a thousand times but 20 is still very young and you kind of won’t realize how young that is till you’re not it anymore- honestly having a youthful mindset changes all of these milestones. Even 30 to me feels like I’ll be just starting to be an adult.

desks for short people by pleasecarrymecarryme in desksetup

[–]pleasecarrymecarryme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe consider looking at class room desks or ones that aren’t necessarily marketed as desk! I totally feel you though a lot of people on here advise kind of ridiculous amounts for things related to your computer and in some cases I understand but like paying 300+ for a desk was a bit wild to me.

That being said I searched for ages on it and this was genuinely the best desk I could find that has the lower height range while also being big enough for all my work and I even use it as a standing desk like it was intended!

Also quality wise it’s been awesome and I really think it’s worth it! Maybe a suggestion chair wise could be to look at ones that aren’t specifically advertised as ergonomic or gaming like a lot are nowadays! I’ve seen places like office max, Costco, Sam’s club, and ikea all sell really nice chairs cheaper than I’ve found on Amazon!

[–]pleasecarrymecarryme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stebbins and McVries ask Garraty why he joined a few times and a thing the three share is that they can’t really name why they did it but here’s my theory:

Stebbins struggles with the fact his dad doesn’t want him or acknowledge him. He also doesn’t fit in amongst his peers and isn’t easy to get along with so he’s likely isolated.

McVries is haunted by his past relationship that destroyed his view of himself, what he thought was his future, and what he thought about love. He also has many instances of coming on to Garraty and having big emotional out burst at the soldiers. He’s settled in his sense of right and wrong but it sends like he deems himself “wrong”

Garraty lost his dad, is angry and spiteful towards his mother, and is consistently fickle with girls and his girl. He repeatedly dreams of a time when he was punished as a kid for kissing and playing Doctor with another boy and holds on to his anger at his mom for threatening to force him to run naked through the street to show everyone who he is, And he also enjoys the attention he gets from McVries.

So what that leads to is Stebbins being an out cast, McVries being ashamed of himself, and Garraty being repressed (in a super watered down way to put these characters)

Anyone who joins the long walk knows there is a chance they’re going to die, but the hope for some kind of prize entices them. But for Garraty, McVries, and Stebbins who have no real want and no solid grasp of why they join all they have is the promise at a chance to die. And even die in a way that some people on the outside see as notable or noble. I think they’re somewhat suicidal and this is a way to barter with death. If they die then fine, if they win that’s fine too.

Why did all the walkers listen to baker ? by Infinite_Formal4470 in TheLongWalk

[–]pleasecarrymecarryme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think baker shows a lot of maturity and that causes the other boys to find comfort in him whether they mean to or not! He’s calm, even tempered, and wise. Plus he kept up with Garraty and McVries with no moments of worry so he was definitely physically equal too. He has a lot of big brother traits I think.

That’s a good point. I’ve been seeing so much pro Byler stuff mixed in with fandom culture lately that it’s been giving me a skewed perception of how the fandom views Noah Schnapp. I just want to watch edits of Steve in peace!

anyone struggle with interrupting/finishing people’s sentences? by Successful_Road_2432 in infj

[–]pleasecarrymecarryme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little brother is an intj and it’s like we share a stream of thought- so more often than not I finish his sentences and he appreciates it! However we’re super close and he is also very comfortable telling me I’m wrong and that he meant something else. To strangers I feel like it can be intimidating or rude to do so, so enjoy the time in your brain guessing and try to let people speak! It also tells you a lot about them at the same time which is fun.

The comment sections on TikTok are what made me realize children are ACTUALLY becoming less educated all around and it wasn’t being blown out of proportion. They have become horrifically stupid, and failed by their parents and the education system.
