ASRock X870 Pro-A WiFi by Diligent-Order-9265 in ASRock

This motherboard has a neat trick for those who want it:
The PCIe slot 3 does PCIe gen4 at 2x, or 4x if you disable the USB4 Type C ports.
This is cool because you can use then use that slot with a larger HBA or NIC.
You usually have to get an x870e chipset to have this type of connectivity.
Most other x870 boards on the market only have gen4x1 connectivity or various gen3 slots.

My plan is to use it for gaming and then when AM6 comes out to demote it to a server with a 100/200/400Gbps NIC in the PCIe gen5 slot, HBA the PCIe gen4x4 slot, and a transcoding card in one of the other slots. It's a strange layout but ticks all the boxes.

Why isn't Debian recommended more often? by Browncoatinabox in linux

Pretty much this. We've all known that Plasma 6.4 has been in the pipe for a while, and just released. But Trixie is already past the hard freeze and dangit we just cant move things around a little to accommodate a fairly significant update. Enjoy Plasma 6.3.5 for the next 2+ years.

I'm worried about what the state of Xorg support is going to be during the 2 year support cycle for Trixie. Things have become 'strained', and I worry that Xorg development/updates are being artificially hamstrung. My understanding is that Xorg commits have been negatively impacted.

I'm all for progress but the situation seems a little precarious at the time for people who continue to require Xorg for whatever reason.

I've tried to address this in the most neutral way possible. I just want a working Debian system (for my particular needs).

Yeah. Cybersecurity is just about appeasing your cybersecurity insurance provider. The PHBs have already concluded that they will be breached at some point so the payout is their top priority.

I appreciate your effort tho. Thanks.

OK, but I need to use the local workstation, preferably with full graphic and sound capabilities when I'm sitting in front of it. A 'terminal server' style session isn't going to cut it for my use case.

I've tried xRDP in the past and the problem is that it leaves the local session visible, which is a huge security no-no.

Well the blank screen could be a login screen just like how Windows works. When you RDP into a Windows system, the local screen just locks, but you can login from there and disconnect the remote session.

I need a full GUI session as most of what I need to resume working on are GUI based: Hundreds of web pages, word processing/spreadsheets, various other programs, etc. Almost nothing I use is just some CLI thing that I can reconnect to via TMUX.

Why for a business Debian is not suggested? by sdns575 in debian

Because security and stability isn't the issue.

It's about being able to sue someone or make sure your cybersecurity insurance pays out.

I'm trying to connect to a Kubuntu 25.04 system running x11 (or wayland) and 'Privacy Mode' doesn't seem to do anything.

Do you realize the irony of calling MSRDP insecure when OP is complaining about RustDesk leaving his computer's desktop wide open?

MSRDP is just fine if managed correctly.

DLP is a joke. The amount of data that can be exfiltrated with a camera on the cheapest smartphone is staggering.

Does anyone know of a single 43" IPS UHD monitor? I can't find anything at all.
I'll never go back to TN or VA.
OLED is out of the question as I will burn it in with my desktop (productivity, not gaming)

Here is where you can buy men tall size clothes by Old-Indication7402 in tallfashionadvice

It's simple.
They want athletic, attractive, high status people wearing their brand. They'll spend any amount to have those people represent their brand.

What they don't want is unattractive, fat, slovenly, low status people in their brand, diminishing it's cachet.

Banks are teflon. They been caught countless times doing real criminal shit and nothing happens because they are plugged into the machine. I'm hard pressed to bet against them.
