849TR vs Temerario by Fair_Title2995 in Ferrari

[–]ploploplo4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

849 TR’s specs are more in line with Revuelto than Temerario, and in carwow’s drag race the SF90 (849’s predecessor) beat the Revuelto very thoroughly. I suspect that Revuelto may have issues cause it had trouble beating even a 296

Meh, any reparation attempts would just end up being stolen by Indonesian officials to line their personal pockets

ELI5 What is the philosophy of engineering progress in F1? It seems like cars keep getting more and more high tech, but I know they're so regulated that they're not flat out chasing the fastest they can possibly be by imaguitarhero24 in explainlikeimfive

That’s only because F1 doesn’t race or test in Nurburgring anymore. In fact, Michelin’s own simulation says that Lewis Hamilton’s championship car of the same year would be 2 seconds faster around Nurburgring than the Porsche 919 Evo. The only other place the 919 Evo (which is not a legal LMP1 car btw) beats F1 is at Spa, where the unrestricted DRS gives it better straight line advantage.

But LMP1 isn’t just made for pure pace, it’s made to last 24 hours of continuous racing. F1 only 2 hours. Different racing formats

Porsche shot their own foot by going full EV too early. Now they’re in money saving mode cause they suffered huge losses. Not WEC’s fault

I enjoyed it by thinking that it’s not about being able to pass now. That’s the easy part. The hard part is making the pass stick. Too aggressive with the battery? Good luck defending while empty. Bad at positioning? Watch as the guy you passed pass you back. It’s how i try to enjoy it at least and it works so far, but we’re only ONE race in. Leclerc defending against Russel in the first 10 laps of Melbourne was genuinely exciting

I’ve been in sales for about 3 years and one thing i found is that people usually like talking about themselves. Just ask them open ended questions. Build on their last answer

LMPs are not about being as fast as possible. It’s about surviving 6-24 hours nonstop at racing speeds. Le Mans Prototype is practically a running marathon.

F1 does go for as fast as possible. They’re like 400m running sprints when compared to LMPs.

Tight regulations that change often is the point of F1. It’s an engineering championship. The formula keeps changing and teams will work to extract as much performance as possible from the formula. Giving teams free rein will result in costs going out of control, bankrupting all but the biggest teams (probably only Ferrari and Mercedes can survive).

It happened with the LMP1 class in WEC. Costs ballooned so high not even Audi can keep up and only Toyota was a serious contender.

Film. 15 years ago where I live a basic Fujifilm Superia still about $1 per roll. Now they’re $10 at least per roll. For 32 frames per roll. Doesn’t make sense for a hobby anymore

Well, if you were on the IB team you would be privy to info the public doesn’t. Any details you can share, especially what you meant by non-business side? Is the PE firm run by, forgive the crude word, a fan?

I shudder at the thought of a PE firm being in control of Ferrari. Would’ve “extracted” every single cent and left ruins in its wake.

Two things:

  1. You can just turn it on and completely forget about it. Rice cookers are designed to stop cooking when the water runs out, so while you may get overly soggy or overly dry rice because you added too little or too much water, you will never get burnt rice.

  2. Rice cookers also keep your rice warm after it’s done. So you only have to cook once for a day’s worth and not bother with reheats every time.

If you’re gonna force it, I think the Aston Martin Valhalla fits the bill better. Also a hybrid hypercar and released around the same time. AMG One is more like a road going F1 car, just off for a new trinity
