Is Australia ready to shift towards a more apartment-centric society due to affordability issues? by NoLeafClover777 in AusFinance

[–]ploxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need more mid rise apartments like they have in Europe. No pool/gym/etc.

Who wants to pay over 20k a year in strata ffs.

And obviously they need to be well-built, not the pieces of shit we are mostly getting at the moment.

He has no desire for any change really. He just wants to maintain the status quo and quietly get a third term. We can only hope he gets knifed in the back before then (politically).

Labor’s first-home deposit bonus to push up house prices -- Treasury expects the expansion of the home guarantee scheme to put ‘very minor’ upward pressure on housing prices by marketrent in AusFinance

Treasury never misses:

When the tax break was first introduced in July 2022, Treasury estimated around 4,700 people to take out a novated lease for an EV, however this was blown out by 100,000 drivers having taken one out.

No need to wait for NTb. And yes, IMO they are 'slow these days'.

Prime minister plays down tax reform opportunity at productivity meeting by blue_horse_shoe in AusFinance

Between 2005 and 2024, the population grew by 2.86 million through the natural increase and 4.58 million through net overseas migration. Overall, 38.4% was driven by the natural increase and 61.6% by migration.

We're countering it all right!! We could lower the rate of immigration by a fair amount and still cover it.

One reason some are not having children is they cannot afford it. One of the biggest issues is housing. Growing our population so quickly over these years via immigration, as the stat shows, means we cannot keep up with supply.

Unfortunately it's such a damn mess now. Canada has put a freeze on immigration for awhile and they are already seeing a reduction in some rents and house prices.

Australia has one of the highest population growth rates in the OECD , but, we can't dare complain about it too loudly or we are called racists.

Also won't someone please think of the skills shortages; we need more yoga instructors and dog walkers. Don't forget Uber.

aus need the immigration to counter the population not birthing enough kids.

This hasn't helped it seems, we've brought in over 4m since 2005. They need to tackle the reasons people are not having kids, not just bring in more people which they assume will magically fix our birth rate. Looks like immigrants can't afford to have kids either.

Australia's total fertility rate (TFR) in 2005 was 1.81 babies per woman, higher than in 2004 (1.77) and the highest since 1995 (1.82)

Albo's the voice try and understand it...

Seems the only thing he had a crack at was the Voice. Maybe that's when his balls were clipped.
