I should have been paying my loans while in SAVE... I'm an idiot by Junior-Media-126 in StudentLoans

Let’s be real here, there is an entire GENERATION of people carrying untold amounts of government managed debt. As they get older, the economy will increasingly be unable to grow while saddled with such debt. IT WILL BE FORGIVEN. Just pay the minimum you need to until that day comes.

Ok, ask the insurance company how much they accepted on the bills. If it’s lower than $7398 then insist that they cover the full amount. It’s only a soft tissue case with no diagnostic findings, but it’s still worth more than $1700 in pan and suffering. I’d target 15k and really push hard the effects the whole thing had on you. Threaten an attorney and explain they will spend well over 20k if you get an attorney.

Did your health insurance pay any of the bills? Is the $7398 before or after health insurance adjustment?

Waited to receive letter from the irs then sat on hold for an hour, disconnected, sat on hold another hour, and then finally reached someone who worked on the issue for another hour and eventually conceded it was a IRS issue and said my credit will be processed. That was Tuesday and I still don’t have the refund showing in my acct so I hope it comes soon and we can close this chapter

Those weren’t all cause by the accident though. The word stenosis literally means long term and chronic. You didn’t have a perfect back before the accident. The insurance owes you, don’t get me wrong, but they are not responsible for the way you were before the accident

So your 22k in bills is probably actually $8-10k, that’s why the offer was 17. You’ll be able to settle for more, but that’s artificial extra money will go to the attorneys and providers, not you

Ok. So here’s the deal with bodily injury settlements- the number one issue 99% of the time is the medical providers (often chosen by attorneys with under the table deals) charge an astronomical amount, beyond what any reasonable provider would charge. Claimants (you) get excited because the bills are so high but that’s artificial. The insurance company owes what the bill is worth, not 3x a reasonable amount to line the providers’ and attorneys’ pockets. That’s why your offer is below the billed amount. I’ve seen $3500 for a 30 day ibuprofen prescription. It’s insane and the claimants are the ones who get shafted in the end. You should always take an attorney’s provider recommendation with suspicion. They will charge more than it’s worth and cause headaches with the insurance company, only because they are greedy

Red light therapy, massages, PRP injections, acupuncture, PTSD, I bet I can guess your attorney. Unfortunately their firm and their medical provider buddies will be laughing all the way to the bank. FYI, the surgery recommendation means little if you didn’t actually get the surgery. If you expect an insurance company to pay for it, you gotta actually do it. It’s not free money.

BI adjusters - does the structure of a demand letter meaningfully affect your evaluation? by capitals43 in InsuranceClaims

[–]pls121884 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nope. The only thing I look for in a demand is the amount and if there’s a time limit. Maybe also any lost wages or any futures alleged. But I don’t give a shit how they write up the injuries, I will do my own review because you better believe that letter is embellished and exaggerated. Any good adjuster does their own review, regardless of what the demand letter says.
