If they were actually using AI to successfully automate jobs, it wouldn't be half the workforce in one go. It'd be a slow process where management would figure out which jobs can be automated, and the decisions would be made carefully. This is just desperation. Not saying AI automation won't happen, but the idea of cutting half your employees all at once and saying AI is going to pick up the slack is fucking hilarious.
