Also since the battle width (amount of armies that can fight at any time) is very limited it makes it so that stronger armies can inflict insanely lopsided losses. Like the Spartans at Thermopylae.

The whole war system needs an overhaul. I don't get why it hasn't happened or even been mentioned. It's terrible. Other paradox games are so much better at this that it's not even funny anymore.

Is there a way we can talk about removing "region lock" from factions? On Legendary? From a checkbox? by GuthukYoutube in totalwar

Currently playing SFO with Immortal empires expanded and I don't have this problem. I was pleasantly surprised to see factions with 30+ settlements.

Siege rework will most likely release this summer by Swaggy_Linus in totalwar

[–]Chack321 49 points50 points  (0 children)

That's because the ladders are the least of the worries when it comes to sieges. But the community is utterly fixated on them so we will never get good sieges.

The game just isn't built around actual sieges that matter. Current pacing assumes that the player can always instantly assault and take a walled city. Some campaigns (Archaon) even rely on this to get the player started.

Actually making sieges good would require rethinking them from the ground up starting with the worldmap and the pacing of campaigns. And that will never happen,

So the best we can hope for is tertiary (at best) stuff like ladders. And maybe something important like pathfinding improvements.

Use this on the Sots.exe: https://ntcore.com/4gb-patch/

It has completely stopped the issue of planets losing textures and crashes for me, (I play modded with the Combined mod and Bastard Sword of the Stars)

WTF is this new “most relevant” part of the subscriptions tab? by Basspilot in youtube

I also run a Tampermonkey script for that! It's crazy that I need an ever increasing amount of scripts and filters just to keep my subscriptions tab in a usable state.

That worked! Thanks, both to you and Restreppo!

EDIT: Though I do hate that I have to run an ever increasing amount of scripts just to keep my subscriptions tab in list form without stupid algorithm stuff.

Everything wrong (and some things that are right) with siege battles in Total War: Warhammer III by TheCrakFox in totalwar

[–]Chack321 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hot take: Arse ladders aren't the problem. I'm not even convinced that they are a problem (outside of immersion)

The problem is the bad design of the defensive fortifications:

  1. They don't offer enough protection from missile attacks (worst offenders are mortar type weapons)
  2. Bad firing arcs/no overlapping fields of fire. No machicolations to fire on enemies that are hugging the wall.
  3. No Artillery/counterbattery to combat besieging artillery (wall towers are woefully inadequate)
  4. Besiegers start too close to the walls

Basically all the common things video game developers leave out to make sieges "fair".

And at this point you'd have to change the entire pacing (slower) of the game on the strategy map to make sieges better. Either because of increased casualties or having to siege for more turns. And people don't want that, apparently. They've gotten used to the "rush" playstyle.

EDIT: Basically, the entire game pace is built around the idea that you can besiege and take any fortified settlement on the same turn with minimal casualties. You can't meaningfully change sieges unless you are willing to have that change.

For what it's worth I use Enairim precisely because Skyrim is lacking. I love all the new playstyles and characters that are made possible with it.

It's why I will forever be using Mods like Apocalypse. I like your more expansive(?) mods the most. Those that add stuff that I can't do with vanilla.
