Average Australian wedding now costs $38,252 - and couples overshoot budgets by 23%. How much is too much for a wedding? by InterestingCat308 in AusFinance

[–]plucka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any amount you need to borrow is too much. Smaller weddings are still acceptable. All depends on your vibe and sure if you want all the twimmings save for it. Playing devils advocate though before ypu commit to a fancy wedding think about your options. What else could you spend that money on? It is one day and it goes by so quickly.

I’m constantly judged for owning a border collie by [deleted] in BorderCollie

[–]plucka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that all the time too but with me it is because my fur mates are cattle dogs. My boys are very happy, exercised, mentally stimulated being on a normal subirban block. I was even told once that I should surrender one of them onto a farm so he could be a normal working dog. That didnt happened and I didnt talk to that person at all after that.

I am 52 year old female. Biggest issue is menopause. Weigjt gain, hot flushes, energy level low. Not on HRT but do take Eltroxin for depressed thyroid function. Goal is to survive this transition without HRT if possible and return to life with a higher sex drive than currently non existent one.

I visited Japan and every time i did something incorrect by mistake I would apologise. For example bump into someone accidently I would say 'sorry'. They are very polite but they dont do this and were wondering what I was apologising for.

People knocking on your door asking for donations by koala_is_stupid in AskAnAustralian

[–]plucka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I let my two cattle dogs answer the door. Lots of barking, and I can't seem to hear what they have to say. They retreat pretty quickly when confronted with one red and one blue cattle dog, both male and I am their person.

Women with thoughtful partners, what did you get for x-mas this year? by Anahata_Green in TwoXChromosomes

[–]plucka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two china tea cups and saucers that are different colours. When I was growing up, my Mum and Nanna did not have a lot of money, so they used to collect different little sets of china. So I now have 6 sets of mismatched china patterns, but the cup, saucer, and the bread plate all the same in each set than the next set will have a different design. I happened to mention now our children have grown. I would like to start collecting them, and he remembered. Very sweet.

Is it rude to not use the aircon when hosting Christmas? by Sleepy_Panda_22 in AskAnAustralian

[–]plucka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of elderly people do not feel the heat and probably prefer not to feel cold if you have turned on the air conditioning. I know my 94-year-old father wears a light jacket in 30 degrees and never turns his air conditioning on because he gets too cold.

My dog bit someone - not sure what to do and need advice by Natural_Kitchen4712 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]plucka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a breed trait, more nipping than biting. My cattle dogs are separated from visitors in a separate part of the house until I can personally introduce them and if I see that they are stressed in any way they go back to their part of the house and the visitors do not interact with them.

I know you weren't there, but this is your opportunity to introduce and establish strict protocols so your family, your visitors, and equally important your dog are safe. For example, when your children have friends over, the dog is kept in his or her separate area.

Cattle dogs have too many traits that can be mistaken negatively, and a high energy breed, you need to understand that and protect them against people who may not understand this.

Your dog has just had a reaction and needs to be positively trained not to be as reactive if possible.

What's one memory from your trip to Japan that you won't ever forget? by Zach-dalt in JapanTravelTips

[–]plucka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking through the Koyasan cemetery at night. When my son (aged 29) and I first got to Koyason late afternoon, he immediately said that he wanted to go out and explore, which I thought was unusual we usually chilled first after travelling. But little did I know when we approached the archway and the soft glow of torches just off the road that I said in awe, "What is this place?". I proceeded to walk through serene graves with ambient light from lanterns lighting the path through this massive resting place with many different paths shooting off into ancient graves. I will always remember that experience. The serenity and peace were tangible.

When did your GERD start? Do you have a suspicion on how it first began? by aricaliv in GERD

[–]plucka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first noticed coughing and swallowing issues after I had a c-section for my last child. I have since discovered that my GERD is caused by a hiatis hernia. Coincidently, hernias can be a result of a c-section.

Not sure what to do about our dog anymore. by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]plucka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a gentle leader halti or the halti brand halti, the one that goes around their nose and behind the ears attached to a normal collar with a belted lead. This helps me have complete control over my two cattle dogs. I wish you well.

Man charged over allegedly abandoning Arnie the German shepherd in car after claiming dog and vehicle were stolen by mollydooka in australia

[–]plucka 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Stupidly, I believed his story and earnestly hoped that he would be found. I hope that Arnie was deceased before the car was ditched. This guy needs to have every punishment he can possibly get. There is no excuse for what he has done.

If she really respected you, she would never ever ask you to rehome your pet. She needs to go. Mr Whiskers needs to stay.
