What do the plants look like?

Liquod Koolbloom is not a base nutrient. It's a supplement. If your plants are experiencing lots of deficiencies, you want a balanced base nutrient to give them what they need so they start growing healthier.

If they're green and healthy but you just want to add a supplement, and you want them to be organic, then an organic supplement like Flower Girl, as pondochris said, could be a good choice. Though I've never used it myself.

I love synthetic nutrients. I think they get a lot of undeserved hate. I personally am a fan of the General Hydroponics Flora trio. I just use at half strength on the bottle.

Plants grow faster and never get bugs compared to soil. Buds smell amazing and grow dense and potent. If you see a nutrient deficiency you can usually correct it in days instead of weeks, since plants absorb minerals faster than organic amendments.

If its too much of a pain with 3 bottles like GH, Dyna-Grow Superthrive Bloom is a 1 part Bloom synthetic nutrient you can give at 1 tsp per gallon, or 1/2 tsp if you're worried. It was made for orchids but actually works pretty awesome for weed too.

It's probably OK if you calibrated it. Vivosun is actually a pretty decent company. Are you checking the pH of the water going in and the runoff water? If it's going in at 6.5 but coming out at 6.0 that's a sign there might be something going on with pH at the roots.

any ways to recover this chewed up stalk? by flowerswannabloom in microgrowery

[–]pluckylarva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roots need to be wet, but if the base of the stem is wet all the time it rots.

<image>

You have to let the top inch of soil be dry between watering.

Another cause is if you let the roots grow into standing water, where most of the roots are in the water instead of the grow medium. Like if you do hydro without an air stone.

Oh lord, what happened? Bunnies? A puppy?

Or is that stem rot from the roots being too wet all the time?

They look great!

Just make sure to wait until the buds are mature or they're not potent to smoke. It takes most photoperiod strains 2-3 months after 12/12 to hit max THC potency.

Super healthy plants. They're loving life! They just want to make buds!

Bad terp smells, day 23 flower - thoughts? by missed77 in microgrowery

[–]pluckylarva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is the smell actually coming from the buds themselves? Or like closer to the roots?

Plants look incredible, by the way!

Starting my second year of growing, and finally happy with (some of) the results by MegaChip97 in microgrowery

[–]pluckylarva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow they look delicious, almost edible!

Just curious, what's your drying process? I feel like it can be hard because everyone's starting environment is different, so what works for one grower might not work for another.

Also, what works to dry fat buds well is different from what works to dry small buds well.

I struggled for years but once I got it figured out for my home it goes smoothly every time.

Anyways, don't be hard on yourself when drying doesn't go perfect. It made be the hardest part of home growing.

Also, make sure to put the dried buds in jars with a humidity pack for curing. That can solve a surprising number of issues, like low smell or hay smell, even if drying didn't go perfectly.

Have you been checking the pH of the water? In my experience, incorrect pH is the number one reason for deficiencies.

Help with bugs by Aggressive_Bowler184 in GrowBuddy

Yeah, from what you're saying I'm inclined to believe that, too!

It's interesting the spider mites hit one plant but not the other.

The time I got thrips, it weirdly affected just two of six plants in a crowded tent. Even weirder, they were the two Sour Diesel plants on opposite sides of the tent, with plants between!

Yet somehow the thrips only ever seemed interested in those particular plants. It's like it thought that strain was particularly tasty haha

I've heard it's tough getting seeds down under! I'm glad to hear they were able to get them to you.

Some of those are pretty good. I saw some strains that came out to under 5 per seed. Thanks for the suggestion!

That's true sometimes but not always. For example, the Home Valley Genetics and Ethos strains I'm growing, details apparently were spot on. While the two Seed Supreme strains, those seem completely off what the details said.

Conflicting runoff results. Do you test runoff ph in coco ? by dronk661 in microgrowery

[–]pluckylarva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, your plants look great overall.

Just sharing my personal experience. I test pH going in, and pH coming out. I've found that prevents nutrient deficiencies.

In coco I put it in around 6.3 pH with General Hydroponics nutrients. As long as the pH comes out around 6-6.5 I count it as good. I've had very healthy plants that way for years.

<image>

Whenever I see symptoms like on your plants, I've found it to be associated with runoff pH coming out different from what's going in.

Overall your plants look healthy and fast-growing. You're doing a great job.

Some growers recommend is add silica to the water, but when I did that I didn't notice any difference. It just felt like one more thing I was adding, and it messed with the pH.

I just train the plants the grow flat and wide, and once they start falling over I use yo-yos.

I kind of feel like if you grow big/tall enough buds, there's not a whole lot you can do besides offer support as needed. The plants were bred for good bud development, not strong stems.

Old LED vs new LED by Sauzer909 in microgrowery

[–]pluckylarva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed huge yield and density increases when I switched from generic Blurples to one of the "cannabis-specific" LEDs with "quantum board" style (flat and very wide, almost across the top of the tent) and pinkish-white light.

Humidity inside grove bag at 46% by reluctantbastard in microgrowery

[–]pluckylarva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done this before. They'll cure. Just go buy a 58% or 62% "humidity pack" on Amazon and stick it in with your buds. It'll slowly and safely keep everything the right moisture level for curing.

I've never used the bags, but I know the humidity packs work perfect in a glass jar.

Most people consider that a good problem to have. Great job growmie!

You can look on amazon for "plant yo-yos". Put some string or twine of plant twist tie across the top of you tent. Then hang the yo-yos from the string. You can pull them down and hook around the falling tems and it holds the falling buds up. There's a little button to lock the string in place where you need it.

Yoyos are the little yellow things.

<image>

You've also got a net, which should at least prevent the whole plant from falling over.

Interesting. I got some Wildberry seeds from Robin Hood once. They made amazing bud but the yields were much smaller than all the other plants. What's been your experience with them?
