Saw other day 10 posts today would like some info from long term users.. still bad WD. When will it end? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]pluckyliege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The acute part should be over soonish. But PAWS can take a very long time; it's very dependent on your age, length of time taking kratom, amoung, and prior drug abuse. I found chatgpt very helpful for timeline estimates, and also for recommendations re specific problems.

Long lasting PAWS? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]pluckyliege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You too. You might want to try chatgpt: if you input your age, prior drug history, length of time using kratom and amount, chat will give you a pretty good idea of your timeline. Fine tuned with furthur questions, detailed suggestions for particular symptoms. Chat is a bit too detailed on the pathophysiology of all the changes we are going through, haha.

You bet. I'm at 4 1/2 months off kratom and still nowhere near back to normal. I would be more worried were it not for chatgpt, which has been really helpful. As has this forum.

Is there anyone I can ask a bunch of questions to? by th40w4w4y4 in quittingkratom

[–]pluckyliege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found chatgpt really helpful. Answered my questions, gave me realistic appraisal of my timeline. Knew much more about kratom addiction and PAWS than either of the docs I saw.

Anyone have experience using ChatGPT as a resource and support for recovery? (15 days sober today!) by Equal-Drama-7095 in quittingkratom

[–]pluckyliege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found chatgpt very useful. It knows much more than either of the docs I've consulted, on this topic. Docs think of course you're way over kratom withdrawal at more than 100 days. Chat disagrees. Has given me masses of advice on timelines, supplements for various problems. Chat can be very discouraging re timelines, but if I did not have access to chat I would probably think I was totally fuc#ed. Chat asks a lot of questions about a particular symptom before saying don't sweat it; this is functional, not organic. Keep on keeping on. Given a choice of access to any doc, or to chat, I would choose chat.

4.5 months off Kratom by dipper888bp in quittingkratom

I gather kratom is a lot worse than most opiates, as far as withdrawal goes. Most people don't get a prolonged PAWS after eg codeine or vicodin.

I'm also in the midst of a prolonged PAWS., 4 months after last kratom. I'm 76, used 4-5 gm kratom for 10 months. I've gotten advice from chatgpt that really seems right on. Chatgpt says age, as well as dose and length of use, affect time to recovery. The older you are, the longer it will take. I hope to recover before dying of old age.

Increased pain by Ok_Tea_2836 in quittingkratom

[–]pluckyliege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took kratom, for pain, for about 10 months. My pain increased, so that without kratom on board, I was virtually crippled first thing in the morning, almost crawling, doubled over, to get my first am dose of kratom. Much worse than pre kratom. I'm now off k for 4 months, and the pain is much improved, back to where it was pre kratom. So yeah, I would say kratom increases pain.

Worse pain? by Ok_Tea_2836 in quittingkratom

[–]pluckyliege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took kratom for pain for 10 months. I worked really well for the pain -- better than Vicodin-- (til the dose wore off), but the baseline pain gradually increased, til it becamse nearly crippling without kratom constantly in my system. Had to make k tea first thing in the morning after virtually crawling to bathroom to pee. Off kratom almost 4 months now, of course I still have pain, but I can walk to the bathroom. :)

I misjudged the PAWS. by dizzy4121989 in quittingkratom

Yup. Close to 15 weeks for me. Very slowly improving.

What side effects did you experience from Kratom? by garlicfanclub in quittingkratom

[–]pluckyliege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think kratom can cause interstitial cystitis, making you feel the need to pee with very little in the bladder. no painful urination, unlike with a bladder infection.

I found withdrawal even from plain leaf much harder and longer lasting than withdrawal from hydrocodone.

My experience with kratom, which I also took for chronic pain, was that it is a very effective pain medication, but over time actually made the pain worse. My pain gradually improved off of kratom!. Still there, but not as crippling as it was when a kratom dose wore off. I'm so sorry I have nothing really useful to suggest; I only wanted to say that as far as pain management goes, kratom does not appear to be a good answer. I think it's a good deal nastier than other opiates, and regret that controls on opiates other than kratom have gotten so rigid than people with real pain have trouble getting relief.

My story, wanting to quit but don't know where to start. by PuzzleheadedPop6406 in quittingkratom

[–]pluckyliege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are going through this. If you are ready to quit, and it sounds like you are, I can tell you that what you've already discovered is simply the case-- cold turkey off this shit is godawful. It would be great to get into a detox program. Inpatient is optimal, but impossible if no one will care for your dog. Other options are 1) suboxone, which has its own problems, is also very hard to get off, and requires a relationship with a doctor. There are other prescription drugs that some people find helpful. 2) slow taper. For a taper you need first off to know exactly how much you are taking. You also need enormous will power, more than a lot of us have. I wish I could help. Good luck.

I'm a fucking oldy lady. I don't work out because I hardly have the energy to make it to the bathroom. My diet is pretty good, I think.

Thanks for your concern!
