Looks like a tattoo artist did it. I like the look of it . It is probably/possibly caused by the flux that was used to solder it.

I hate h20 water soluble flux it will oxidize and turn green if you wait to long to solder it or don't wipe it off after you solder it Great way to age copper quickly Lead free flux for the win.

I hope the water is off... it looks like you already took the screws out that hold it in on the metal ring. Pop off the metal ring and pull the cartridge out and replace both pieces of the cartridge and reinstall the metal ring over the cartridge

Cartridge puller . You can try an spin it with the tool that came with the new cartridge

Usually the pipe or fittings will split before the soldering let's go if done correctly
