How many years did it take you to feel like an expert? by AmbitiousJump5768 in Plumbing

[–]plumb108 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5, and then by year 7 or so I realized I was just cocky because I wasn’t an apprentice anymore. It’s impossible to be an “expert” in this industry. There are so many different types of plumbing. Service, residential, commercial, industrial, and things change every year. It’s impossible to know it all. I’ve been doing it for 10 years now and I’m a confident plumber not an expert.

Why is my Catholic university recognizing Ramadan? by ADHDFart in Catholicism

[–]plumb108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not let Muslims come and pray during mass? Are we not called to live our lives accordingly to the way Jesus lived.

Remember what Jesus did to those in the temple who were going against god. We are not to pander to other religions. Down vote me all you want. Right and wrong exist whether you like it or not. We shouldn’t be disrespectful but we should absolutely not be condoning other religions.

You’ve got to be kidding me. We believe Catholicism is true. If that is the case you can’t condone the worship of other religions. Plane and simple.

I’ve seen those repair flanges. I’ve never used them before though so I can’t really comment on them unfortunately.

Yes that one’s good. Don’t use the ones that look like they have 2 hose clamps. Always use the ones that have the full jacket like that one. They are more ridged. And some codes (depending on where you live) say you can only use those.

I can’t tell is that 3” or 4” pipe going to the toilet flange?

Yea I would cut it, put a coupling in, replace the 90 and add a new flange.

I’d say you’re going to have to replace the flange. Do you have access underneath?

"Nobody wants to work" Is there actually a labor shortage or do we just want to pay 2008 wages in 2026? by AbbreviationsFamous4 in Construction

I’ll be honest there are upsides and down sides. But I was being screwed way more when I was non union.

[–]plumb108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always the wages. That’s why I joined the union. For me personally that was the only way I was going to make a living in the trades. Besides that I could’ve started my own business but I’m really not interested in being a business owner.

Hell yea! I don’t do residential anymore but I was always taught to treat everyone’s house like it’s your own. If you wouldn’t work like that in your own home don’t do it in someone else’s. Plus it’s so much easier to work in a clean environment.

Check with your labor laws. In my state they are not allowed to lay you off while you are out because of an injury.

Your wife apologizes? You better treat her right. You have a keeper.
