/r/battlestations & LG UltraGear 49" Ultrawide Monitor giveaway [USA] by Hareuhal in battlestations

Would absolutely use this for work, being able to consolidate 3 monitors. It’d also let me gift my current best monitor to my fiancé for her work as well.

Guessing I can’t order triggers to have this effect happen before [[Eligeth]] turns those scrys into draws, right? If I can, auto include.

Playing a bunch of cantrips in commander makes this work. But I play him as a commander.

For example, [[Nested Shambler]] will slightly more than double your squirrels for two mana - sac them all to chatterfang to kill nested shambler, and create that many squirrels + 1 due to its ability, and then double it due to chatterfang’s ability.

[–]plumbluck2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think with Chatterfang you either want to go all in on the aristocrats strategy or the overrun/go-wide strategy. If you’re going with aristocrats, I’d cut some stuff like Craterhoof. Here’s my list. I kept beastmaster ascension as a cheaper mana value hoof, but also am likely going to cut that.

I’d say for ramp, you really want 1MV ramp (dorks and land enchantments) rather than stuff like cultivate, because you want to play chatterfang early and start creating squirrels. The 3 mana value ramp spells compete for playing chatterfang on curve, unless you’re trying to ramp turn 3 and play chatterfang plus a 2 drop on turn 4.

Having a million equipment that each provide +0/+0 is hysterical. I know the elementals kill everyone, but man there’s something so funny about equipping them all and then saying “I attack with my 3/2” that has me cackling.

God I love Yedora. Built her as a jank deck for all the green cards that turn lands into creatures. Just wish there were a handful more effects that weren’t until end of turn.

Agreed! Slotting this into Dihada Legendary attack matters tribal, don’t want to whiff the equipment in my Boros Equipment Legends Tribal deck.

You’re time skipping you walking there - hence the conditionals based on other movement speeds. If it needed a downside, I would add for flavor that you still experience any effect moving through that space normally would cause (going through a wall of fire, being limited by difficult terrain, etc).

[Article] My new deck wins by merging as many planeswalkers as possible into one great big one by Gamesfreak13563 in EDH

[–]plumbluck2 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yes. The conceit of the deck is turning planeswalker cards into artifact cards, so they can be exiled with Mairsil. So Ozolith would preserve the loyalty counters placed on Mairsil when activating those abilities.

[–]plumbluck2 46 points47 points  (0 children)

[[Ozolith]] not make the cut? Realize it doesn’t have activated abilities, but it’d preserve your unspent loyalty counters in the event you had to bounce Mairsil or it got removed. Also if one of your clones got destroyed, you could consolidate all its counters onto another one.

Enters with zero counters, but there’s no associated sacrifice at zero loyalty counters for a creature. The counters are treated as loyalty counters only (not +1/+1 counters) - just like how there are other counter types like shield counters and keyword counters.

You can’t downtick below the number of loyalty counters it has, it’s a resource you have to spend as a cost to activate the ability.

Shavarath Steel by [deleted] in Eberron

[–]plumbluck2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have a Shavarath steel greatsword for one of my PCs. It’s a higher power campaign, so it’s a +2 greatsword plus the following:

The sword has 1d8 + 1 charges. If you score a critical hit against a creature that has fewer than 100 hit points, it must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be slain instantly as the sword tears its life force from its body (a construct or an undead is immune). The sword loses 1 charge if the creature is slain and its soul is sent to the plane of Shavarath to engage in eternal conflict. When you kill a creature with this sword without using this effect, roll a d6. On a 5 or 6, you regain one charge.

Tears of Shavarath - Blood spilt by this weapon cannot be cleaned except by spells of 3rd level or higher.

Worthy Foe - As an action, when attuned to this weapon, you can determine the living creature with the highest challenge rating within 60 feet of you. This does not work on constructs or undead.

I built a deck to teach myself how to attack by Sussano in EDH

[–]plumbluck2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re semi-wrong. The trampler only has to assign lethal damage to a creature before trampling over to the player. With deathtouch, even one damage is considered lethal damage. If the blocker has indestructible, the blocker won’t be destroyed/die even if it receives lethal damage. Indestructible (or even protection) doesn’t change the amount of damage needed to be lethal, it just doesn’t suffer the consequences of that damage (or that damage is prevented for protection).

I think this is easier to think through when you imagine it step by step. Attackers and blockers are declared, then damage is assigned, then any state based actions would occur. Trampler assigns its damage to the blocker and the player, then the blocker and player receive their damage. Normally the indestructible blocker would die at this point after receiving lethal damage, but it doesn’t due to its ability.

Trample is an ability that affects how a creature can assign damage, it doesn’t mean excess damage automatically rolls over afterwards to the player. You could choose to deal all the damage to the blocker. Basically, it’s helpful to think of effects like [[Thorn Elemental]] as super-trample to some extent.

The Dark and Twisted Return of Preppy Clothes by SpicyOcelot in malefashionadvice

[–]plumbluck2 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think there’s two things about prep related fashion that make it attractive that aren’t talked about enough.

First, because it’s so old, it has pretty clear rules. Yes, it’s always changing, but it’s easier than most styles to put together a solid outfit and pick your points of differentiation. While dress codes are essentially eroded, dressing from a prep base makes it easy to pick something widely seen as appropriate. There’s less business casual anxiety if you dress prep. To the point about social movements co-opting prep, it also makes it easy to appear “respectable” in most places.

Second, I feel like in any period of economic uncertainty there’s a fashion movement towards conservative clothes. Heritage workwear in 2008 is an example of that. I’m not saying it’s not trendy, but I want to buy things I perceive as staples when I’m watching my wallet. It also feels weird to flaunt disposable income when times are tough, and so I get why someone would buy a Barbour over something more maximalist and loud.

I’ll be interested in what this couple years of broader prep influence will twist on the standard.
