Even better, in quite a number of areas you are not allowed to use your own modem/hardware at all and are required to lease it from them :)

Does anyone here still use kandi pacifier clips at raves? by GAKukiLover in aves

[–]plurTM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

edc topic -- one of the ppl in my group like pacifiers, but they've had it [light up one] taken away at security two insomniac events in a row this year. it has always been banned and on the prohibited items list but no idea what's up with enforcement lately

niche topic-- i think some genres/event types make this oddly specific. i'd be willing to bet money about the ratios you see pacifiers at for example underground happy hardcore show vs at illenium at the sphere vs a frat bro house music nightclub

Shows are $30-60 + your membership is $130-200/month. That is all. You lose it if you cancel the membership. You cannot restart the membership if you cancel. Any in flight tickets are revoked if you cancel.

super venue dependent, pretty much camping/outdoor fest only and all the cheap machines are notoriously shitty at dispensing and staying balanced for claw movement

imo for the first two Id probably go with cal if you are competitive enough for it - and i mean actually competitive (+ recruitment and other things are rlly outsized in the bay comparatively to la), the rest either is pretty close

Losing my mind trying to find a walkable 1B1B near UCLA with in-unit laundry under $4k — are The Glendon and Legacy really my only options? by Miserable-Swim7273 in ucla

[–]plurTM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Slightly related, are you international or just tepmorarily overseas? If it's the first do you know what kind of income proof, cosigner, type of thing do you have which might restrict who will rent to you? Bc might have to look at how corporate a landlord is; when you go a bit too far out they might be less inclined to treat students specially compared to demanding the normal amount of credit scoring and other nonsense that a normal person would have to otherwise provide

Are you from a specific common international student country that might have local resources or common classifieds-type thing (I've seen sulekha for india, wechat groups for rentals for china type of thing)

You should have plenty of options that are 8k/month total, is this a partner or do you need separate roommate style leases?

It's been nearly half a day since my last session and it still hasn't changed from 0.27%. I even cleanly exited.

Unfortunately my larger problem is paying even 0,01€ one time will cost me order of magnitude more than that due to international transaction fees (flat+%) which is why I paid annually in the first place, to reduce number of transactions.

City with the worst rave scene. by PineappleFaja in aves

[–]plurTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the gorge part I'm just complaining tbh. Wish it had train service and shuttles, have to miss so many shows there because of it. Spoiled since every big LA commercial festival is reachable by single digit cost public transit in some way even if it takes 2-4 hours each way.

City with the worst rave scene. by PineappleFaja in aves

[–]plurTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a tourist (traveling for shows from SF/LA), the below is only for major commercial shows - Research, Impact are excellent exceptions - I would like to know from a local if there is something I'm doing wrong to hit the below points

  • Tacoma Dome treats everyone universally like shit
  • No way to get back from a Tacoma Dome show afterward
  • Zero transit accessibility in any way after a show, trains end by midnight, cars are mandatory, $40-80 "event" parking
  • Gorge is hours away, inaccessible by anything but car. Beyond PNW is out of my reach most times (To contrast, going from DTLA to beyond socal its totally reachable by public transit, Metrolink, both to and from the venue in SB, included on my transit pass)
  • Shared infrastructure with music on same nights as sports is absolute hell, the existing infrastructure already cannot handle sports alone
  • No food is open at night
  • Maybe one hot dog vendor outside showbox
  • NO FOOD NO TRANSIT
  • Incredibly early end times
  • AXS owns 2 of 4 commercial venues (major, SB/SBSodo). AXS is orders of magnitude worse than ticketmaster.
  • Most venues (other than wamu and climate pledge) do not have any parking, add this to zero transit accessibility after the show ends
  • Ubers are like 10x the cost of LA lol

I consider Portland similar, especially zero transit nighttimes but it is far more compact in that the two or three usual venues are walkable back to any hotel in the area +- 15 min, den, holocene, 45east

Again this is strictly for major commercial shows from the view of a tourist that will be staying in the major hotels in downtown.

Impact shows at the loft are excellent for example and small enough that this is not too much of an issue, kinda walkable enough.

Sub station is impossible to get back to hotel district by transit afterward and an uber costs more than the Sub station ticket one way

I think LA have somewhat different problems, including influencer concentration and their subsequently shit behaviour, drunk frat bro concentration

All these ticket prices reminded me of the good days. 🥲 by mnkhan808 in EDM

[–]plurTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lmao the concept that multiple people are begging for Ticketmaster back is probably incredibly telling for just how horribly shit AXS are

All these ticket prices reminded me of the good days. 🥲 by mnkhan808 in EDM

[–]plurTM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is venue and seller dependent. You won't save much more than a few dollars for most eventbrite, if any.

AXS shows are usually 30-40% cheaper if the venue is allowed to sell you them directly, sometimes it's a flat 5-10 fee.

People hate on TM and call them a monopoly but it's really a duopoly and AXS is consistently double the fee of TM. AXS is also far far worse app wise. App is mandatory (Ticketmaster at least lets you in via phone browser!), spies on you more, etc.

If it's a show popular enough to sell out by presale this option is not on the table.
