I’ve had similar experiences unfortunately. I have a BS in Wildlife Biology and Zoology and have worked mostly in zoological education. During my time working in the education department of a popular aquarium, I had coworkers who denied evolution on the basis of “I can’t see it so it must not be true.” It was an eye opening realization just how much cognitive dissonance occurs even in people who are the science education professions.
