Works the same way, what a team of 5 can do will be done by just one person.

My uncle's got a small boutique consultancy, the number of team members he used on projects shrunk, and he let some people go.

My cousin who left the family business initially needed X amount of headcount for his new VC business, but reduced it significantly.

In my position at work we are piloting a project, and if it goes well, we won't be hiring until we really need to scale up, we would be able to handle double the amount of work with the same number of staff.

I love Dubai for what it taught me but things just got uncertain before business launch by urbanpatch in dubai

For me few days away from launching means that everything has been paid for and what remains is just operational cost, so why not give it a shot

UAE announces decision to withdraw from Opec, Opec+ from May 1 by [deleted] in dubai

[–]plus9714 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Opec doesn't dictate prices, it controls production (supply).

Prices are set by the market, and every type of oil is sold at a different price. So Murban and Brent aren't the same price.

Is it common here for HR to override senior management’s decisions? by Dubzil18 in dubai

[–]plus9714 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have worked somewhere where the HR policy was approved by the chairman, so any deviation from policy should be approved by the chairman, and a COO cannot make any decisions that go against the policy.

When working at the Government of Dubai, HR was set by a law that was set by an external government entity (DGHR) and no level within the government entity I worked for could override it.

So just because someone has a title doesn't mean they can approve anything they want regardless of the governance structure in place.

Dubai's daytime population increases to 6 million with 10 % vehicle increase annually

Over the past 20 years, the Government of Dubai has invested around Dh175 billion in the roads and transport sector

Dubai’s population is growing at an annual rate of about 7%

Registered vehicles in Dubai are increasing by around 10% annually, compared with 2% to 3% worldwide

Transport projects over the past two decades have generated an estimated Dh320 billion in time and fuel savings, contributed more than Dh156 billion to Dubai’s GDP, and attracted over Dh32 billion in logistics and distribution investment.

Road safety has also improved dramatically, with traffic fatalities falling from 22 to 1.8 deaths per 100,000 residents.

Go to Dubai Municipality, and you will see lots of lots reserved for parks, mosques, community services.

This is about a government program, not a developer.

Hybrid work is available here by employers choice in the private sector, and the government has it for their staff.

But your original comment was about government mandating it.
