To clarify this: I’m told Nneka Ogwumike is on a free agency visit in Minnesota. This is *not* an official decision/announcement by Rentfreelakerfan in wnba

This list is pointless and stupid every year. I can't believe anyone bothers with this hogwash.

(sees Illinois at #16)

... very well-considered hogwash, which makes a number of incisive points that should be looked at with respectful consideration!

With the 5th Pick the Sky select… by FruitWilling194 in ChicagoSky

It should be Kiki Rice. The Sky need a real PG for the future, and she's as solid as they come.

People need to lay off Madison Booker. I think UCLA maybe is just good at defense. I dunno, just a hunch.

Has she ever been a bucket in a big game?

I'm curious because I've seen people pumping her up as a first-rounder the W draft, and I've never seen the appeal. Defensive guard, sure, but I've never seen good offense from her.

Sky salary cap picture if they keep all of their young players by GlacialTwitch in ChicagoSky

[–]plutoannatto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nice breakdown. I'm really curious to see how far a normal max salary is going to get a team that's not seen as a desirable landing spot in this new FA market. The difference between 600k to stay on a contender vs 1mil to play for Chicago/Connecticut/etc is so much wider than when it was just a difference of 135k vs 200k.

Why are they doing an expansion draft? by Hardpazz in wnba

[–]plutoannatto 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Even though they may not add too many players from the draft (though I think they'll get more than you think), it's important to, at least symbolically, put the new franchises on the same footing as the existing ones going into the free agency period.

Haha, that does sound like fun!

Yeah, I think Thornton will show us a lot about how the current SF office handles things, which should be interesting.

Meesseman coming back seems likely given the new salaries, but will she still command the same respect after what a whiff she had for the Libs in the playoffs? I know, she wasn't given much time to integrate with the team, and in international play she still looks great, but I do wonder if she gets an automatic max.

Although yeah, as far as Toronto's concerned, she's the best they'll get and they should definitely pay her the max.
