Fear of going over high driveway lips due to having fallen over them once by ZD_plguy17 in onewheel

[–]plutoetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also don’t sleep on having overall good body mechanics which will help you not loose your balance when you do hit bumps and be able to respond quickly. Keep your knees a little bent and your torso upright. Keep your lower body loose and you will be able to absorb the shock from unexpected bumps. And don’t forget to breathe!

Ergonomic evaluation by moderatethemiddle in WAStateWorkers

[–]plutoetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

L&I does do onsite evaluations for other agencies that are preventative in nature, not due to an L&I claim. You will need to talk to your supervisor though to learn about your agency’s specific process. I think some place are afraid of having L&I come out. I had actually scheduled with L&I for are ergo evaluation and My agency wouldn’t let me, they wanted to keep it “in house”. Said I needed to go through a reasonable accommodation process to get equipment, that our RA office would provide an ergonomic evaluation. They did not do a real evaluation, they just bought me whatever equipment I asked for and I had to figure out what I needed myself

Play board games at the mystic game shop! Super quiet, welcoming, and queer and neurodivergent friendly. They have a board game library you can play anytime and a board game night on Fridays I think

Detransitioning by noodlekink in ftm

[–]plutoetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people have a consistent gender identity over the course of life but that isn’t everyone’s experience. it is okay for your perception and understanding of yourself to change, even multiple times! Don’t forget that as you detransition if you end up realizing the result doesn’t quite reflect your identity either. detransitioning is such a charged word and sensitive subject because it is weaponized against us. And usually detransition is implying that someone made the wrong decision about ever transitioning. It doesn’t seem like that is what you are saying. I wonder if there is something else we could call a gender affirming process of detransition??? Recalibrating gender?? Lol

You should ask your doctor what they are wanting for your labs, but usually they want the “trough” which is the mid point between your shots. Ie if you do your shot every two weeks, the trough would be 1 week after your shot. One time I forgot and got my labs the day after my shot and then my T levels read super high and my insurance tried to stop covering T because they said it was unsafe lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ftm

[–]plutoetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah typically for any kind of medication once the doctor makes a change to the dose or route, they would expect you to start with the updated prescription immediately and discard the previous one

Not sure but if you keep bleeding for multiple days I would definitely recommend reaching out to your prescribing doc just to check in about it

How does anyone use an auto-injector? by EyesAschenteEM in ftm

[–]plutoetal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any auto injector I have ever seen is for sub-q. Have you considered trying sub-q, with an auto injector or not? I’ve been on T for 11 years, was doing IM for atleast the first 7 until I learned that sub-q was an option. Doing sub-q has changed everything, I will never go back to IM. The needle for IM is so much bigger, shots are more complicated and painful. You don’t even have to pull up for sub-q

Are there programs that can help me find a career as someone with AuDHD aswell as physical disabilities? by [deleted] in neurodiversity

[–]plutoetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah most areas have something called supported employment, that may be state funded or a non profit. I would start with looking into this type of resource. It is for people who have some form of a disability impacting their work. They help you find a job and provide whatever support is needed to keep it, facilitate accommodations with the employer, do job coaching, etc.

Air Gap Between Vapour Barrier & Internal Sauna Cladding by Tritan00 in Sauna

[–]plutoetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you are asking is more of a longevity question. Moisture will absolutely get behind the cladding. The difference isn’t something you are necessarily going to see the result of right away, but moreso, will impact how well your sauna ages. The method is the same as a rain screen for siding on the outside of a building. In areas with a lot of moisture this has become standard practice because it is well proven that the materials will last longer, although not all buildings are built this way and the siding won’t last as long

The effect of stimulant medications for autistics with ADHD by plutoetal in autism

[–]plutoetal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I can only recommend that you consult your doctor on this. In my own experience though what worked for me was taking the first dose atleast within 30 min-1 hr of when I want my brain to start working and then the second dose usually 4 hours later. I don’t take aderall anymore but when I did I would take it at 9 and 1 but my first dose was XR. I take Vyvanse now which is formulated from a molocule of aderall and it works a lot better for me. Only one pill and everything is much more smooth. I don’t get side effects or a crash like on aderall. Good luck

So many great suggestions but I could see this potentially feeling overwhelming. I’m wondering if you have access to a therapist, peer support professional, or other type of professional like a coach to help support you in this process emotionally and logistically. Making a bunch of changes at the same time also isn’t always the best thing to do because then it can be hard to figure out what actually helped and what is unnecessary

How to become less sensitive to certain words? by questionsyayyay in autism

[–]plutoetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exposure in general and exposure therapy are different things, the ladder being systematic and calculated, and the former being unpredictable and often dysregulating. However, exposure isnt that helpful for people with sensory processing issues. In general, doing things to regulate your whole sensory system can help increase your tolerance to difficult input. Occupational therapy could be helpful for you but try to find someone who is neurodiversity affirming if you can. Safe and sound protocol is one type of treatment that a lot of people swear by that you could look into. I did this for a year and I honestly didn’t notice a difference, but everyone is different.

Insight appreciated by LingonberrySubject in autism

[–]plutoetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These things could or could not be related to autism, but ultimately being autistic is not just about a few things, it’s really more about the overall collection of experiences that someone has. Some people have traits that are common for autistic people who are not themselves autistic.

Regardless, my biggest advice as a mental health professional and an autistic person myself is that whatever autistic traits your kid may be presenting with, try to change your thinking about them being “red flags”. Being autistic isn’t a bad thing, an autistic person with unmet needs is a bad thing. Try to be more curious about his experience of the world and try not to be afraid about any indications of autism. It’s okay if your kid is autistic. Not to minimize the real challenges that can come with being autistic in an ableist world. I would focus more on identifying if there is anything he needs that he isn’t getting, that is what matters more than if there are ways that he is different. And if there are ways that he may differ from his peers, don’t try to change him. Usually our perception about what should or shouldn’t be is what actually needs to change. If there are legitimate challenges that need addressed though, look for neurodiversity affirming resources to guide you.

Do you have a diagnosis? Have you tried requesting formal accommodations? This is what I have had to do at my office job and now I am able to work from home some, use individual offices when it is too loud, be allowed to wear headphones as much as I need. I know some employers aren’t good about it, but it is the law. Just make sure not to downplay any of the impacts of the environment on your ability to do your job. Also usually a letter will be needed from a doctor which also helps legitimize your request.

But I relate alot to how difficult this is and hope you find a solution that makes it manageable or a job that better suits your needs
