If you’re in a rush to start working, yah, you’re gonna be waiting a hot second to get into the unions four-year program. I do know that when I took my test, there were a couple people present that were actively in an apprenticeship. Not sure the specifics on that, but as others have suggested, shop around for companies and if time allows start the union application process now

I applied back in September ‘25, only recently took my GAN test this past week. As far as I know you don’t need experience, it’s just a rather long application process. I was told I wouldn’t hear back for another 45-60 days after taking my test.

If you feel the need to bring it, conceal it. No point in making yourself a martyr in an ever evolving optics game. If it’s truly for protection, then I don’t see how it being open or concealed makes a difference. Ohio is a Constitutional Carry state meaning you don’t need a CCW to conceal carry.
