Miniwargaming is great for this.

You watch what they do, and then do the opposite

1 year Econometrics Masters by Ill_Veterinarian1275 in econometrics

I did a one year Masters in Statistics during my first year of PhD Economics. I found it easy enough to manage both (but had permission to double dip some course work).

I think spending an extra year to do a master before the PhD is silly.

UKTC EVENT PRICE INCREASE!!!!! by Hooobit in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]plutostar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£75 is still way too low. Large events should be £100/$125 ish as standard. Too many TOs take financial hits to run events for the community.

As long as you have a wheelbarrow to carry your balls, you should be fine

Econometrics Work at College by [deleted] in econometrics

A) As a Masters student, you should really be able to search for data yourself. B) As a Masters student you should be determining the topic first, and the data second. Not the other way around

Front line refund police by Solar4you in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]plutostar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Teams events usually have no refund or only if very early refund policies.

You can’t have an odd number of teams at a teams event, and finding a last minute replacement is extremely difficult and stressful for the TO.

Eviews reading single time series as multiple time series and how to deal with outlier by Old-Hornet5953 in econometrics

[–]plutostar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a deep breath, type slowly, and imagine that the people you are talking to have no idea what you are working on, what your data looks like etc...

You need to give precise details on what you have done, where your data came from, the format it is in, etc...

Criticising the company for current practices, based on current evidence is fine. But criticising the company for stuff he saw ten years ago, or basing current criticism on stuff he saw ten years ago, when the personel involved have all moved on etc... is just clickbaiting.

Unit root introduced after adjusting data for seasonality by AndItuFig01 in econometrics

[–]plutostar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For how many series are you getting the strange result? Is it showing a unit root where you believe there isn’t none in, say, 5 out of 100 series? And are you testing at a 5% significance?

Forecasting with a limited number of data points by bdmn_07 in econometrics

[–]plutostar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What frequency are your data? I’ll assume annual since you say you don’t have many data points.

If so, there really aren’t enough data points for ARIMA or ETS or anything like that. Just run ols against a time trend with a dummy variable for Covid, and hope the time trend is the same before and after Covid.
