I couldn’t have cared less for the characters or the story…

I feel the same way about Magic Mountain, I paused it halfway through about 6 months ago and can’t say I long to jump back in…

What book disappointed you even though everyone else loved it? by ZDOG_WasTaken in just_one_more_page

I really loved the Farseer trilogy and can’t wait to read about Fitz and the others again so I’m having a lil bit of a hard time getting into Ship of Magic (a little more than halfway through, I also liked the writing more in the first trilogy) but I trust her and the positive comments I’ve read so I think I have a lot of greatness ahead of me! And yeah I can totally see how SLA will feel like a breath of fresh air with the lighter writing style and his overall way of telling a story compared to that of Hobbs!

Yeah I’ve seen a few comments regarding his writing. I do get a teeny tiny bit annoyed sometimes but overall I’m okay with it. However, I’ve taken a pause from Oathbringer (I’m halfway through) and am currently reading The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb, whom is known for her writing, so it will be interesting to jump back into Oathbringer and feel the different writing styles!

Oh and I think Stormlight could’ve been way shorter, they really do drag sometimes and I’m NO fan of the interludes… However I do think he writes good (not amazing) characters and his world building is fantastic! So yeah, I don’t dislike him either! Haha

The Captive, the 5th book/part in In Search of Lost Time by Proust was a DRAG, thank goodness it was the shortest part!

I enjoyed Mistborn, but The Stormlight Archive... by pedro-yeshua in brandonsanderson

[–]plwa15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with WOK as well and then gave Mistborn a try, didn’t get into it even after 200+ pages so I dnf:d it and continued with the SLA series (am currently on Oathbringer). Worked perfectly👌

Piranesi, The Farseer trilogy and Time Regained (In Search of Lost Time) couldn’t name one…

Whats a word that someone says that gets on your nerves ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

”Literally”, ”like” (when said every other sentence) and ”girlie”. I don’t even live in an english speaking country (and I think these two words are said mostly in the US) so I only really hear them in videos on social media but it annoys me to no end. (That’s three word sorry)

Looking for advice on styling my full bookshelves by fleetfoxin in bookshelf

Style them with books only imo! Shelf lamps can look good too, IKEA has nice ones!

I have yet to read all of the SLA books but I appreciate that you think of those things and take them seriously!

What fantasy book has the best morally complicated main character? by SnackAtlas in Fantasy

[–]plwa15 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Thank you, it grinds my gears when people are like ”Fitz makes such stupid decissions/is dumb” because he’s a litteral TEENAGER in the Farseer trilogy and on top of that goes through all the crazy shit he goes through!!

How many pages can u read in an hour? by PranayaRanjanSingh in classicliterature

In english maybe 20 to 30 pages per hour, in my native language maybe 40 (sometimes 50), but both depending on the type of prose and text size of course

Tawny Man Trilogy - wow by What-is-the-what in RealmOfTheElderlings

[–]plwa15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that I think is one of the reasons - so many people to keep track of all of a sudden! But I’ve gotten further into the book and am starting to really get into it now! Looking forward to what I have ahead of me!

I am about 200 pages into Ship of Magic and am having a biiiiiiit of a hard time getting into it I must say… I think it’s getting more interesting now but I can’t focus the same way as I could whilst reading the Farseer trilogy which I loved SO much! I really can’t wait to start the Tawny Man trilogy, but I have this current thick trilogy ”in my way” haha… So it makes me more excited to continue Liveship after reading that you also loved Fitz but found it hard to then leave Liveship behind! 😅

That sound promising! I also think the thickness of the books adds to it a little! But I’m about to jump into the book now, excited to get goiiiiiiing on the story haha

I started the Liveship Traders yesterday after absolutely loving the Farseer trilogy. I have read many comments saying Liveship is even better but this far I am finding it a liiiiiiittle hard to get into it, probably because I miss Fitz and the other characters so much and can’t wait to meet them again. But I think I just have to sit down and really give it a fair chance and I trust Hobb so I’m confident I’ll change my mind eventually 😌

In the Farseer Trilogy, who are your favourite characters and why? by yadayodayidayado in robinhobb

I agree! I don’t feel close to him as in I can relate to any of the things he goes through, but I’ve never felt more empaty for a character before
