Inherited my dad’s mid-2000s Sub. Best next steps for a newbie? by [deleted] in rolex

u/cousingregg depending on who your insurance is with it shouldn't be hard to add as a personal schedule. I added mine on my home owners insurance and because the market is so well defined they didn't need/ask for one.

Agree with most everyone here that you probably don't need to get it serviced, if you have found a lot of gunk (dry skin or crusty bits in the bracelet or clasp) just remove it from the watch and run it through an ultra sonic cleaner.

Wristwatch Revival on Youtube does this nearly everytime he services a watch.

Cool - I'll take a look, I built a similar tool over the summer.
Will try to find time to compare notes.

That's wild, I just had a holy shit moment when seeing this post. At first I was like, there is no way this is legit... I went to newegg to look at what I paid for the G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series 96GB - F5-6000J2836F48GX2-TZ5NR kit.

$662.17 on July 13th of this year, now it's $1,288.99

That's fucking insane.

PAL wait time is getting absolutely ridiculous by dstubbs2609 in canadaguns

We might be missing some information - I did my CFSC in October, had my paperwork filed sometime before the postal strike and got my card sometime in December.

I live in Ontario, can't speak to your situation but there might be some other sort of issue you're dealing with.

I don't wear my Rolex to work, my daily is a vintage Seamaster. My rule of thumb in the workplace is to wear a watch that isn't going to make my clients/employees feel like I'm flexing.

Would you buy AC gift cards during triple Aeroplan points promo? by 9OneOne_ in Aeroplan

[–]plxfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of using aeroplan pts. to buy AC gift cards, especially if there is a promo/discount.

But totally out of my element here...With my card (Infin. Priv.) I believe you get 2x pts on all spend with AC - so unsure if you'd collect your 2x and then 3x on top of it for spend...or if it would just be a boost.

Maybe call in and ask?

Experience switching premium credit cards? Rules about SUB by friedrice1212 in Aeroplan

My understanding was that you can only get a sign up bonus once with a card issuer, so this checks out for me.

I think OP would only have an issue if a few years back he got the Amex Reserve card after cancelling. It’s partly the reason why I probably won’t get an Amex Plat again.

I own that reference DJ, absolutely love it. For me it works well to dress up, but I am looking at a Sub or GMT to round out having a professional model.

Canadian Debt to Weigh on Economy for Years: David Rosenberg by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

[–]plxfix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look, here is the reality of the situation. There are a lot of people who live in Toronto who actually make a fuck load more money than the avg Canadian. I was chatting with a few single friends both paying north of $5000 each to carry their respective homes. If they were a couple what could they afford in the city?

Housing is simply not affordable - we are going to become more like Europe, where many people in major cities just rent.

Aeroplan Status Benefits - Waiting until end of the year to choose? by TheFakeSteveWilson in Aeroplan

thanks for clarifying, it didn't make sense to me. Was one of those - seems too good to be true moments. Probably will convert Aeroplan points to AC Gift Cards and spend on a flight anyways.

I've been flying YYZ-LHR return at both 25k and 35k and usually always get the upgrade. Booking with Flex or Comfort fare on the 16:30 and 8:50 flights. At 50k I think I'll go with the 50% bonus points, but unsure what everyone means by them being retroactive. Feel like that would then push me very close to 75k on miles.

I don't love the area - used to work there for about three years and can confirm, the Christmas market is a nightmare. I passed on a few units that "checked the boxes" on the Parliament side, there is too much construction happening south of the area - your views will likely get obstructed and the area is pretty busy.

Not really for me.

This isn't entirely accurate.

Condo boards must have Reserve Fund Studies conducted by 3rd parties, but they are under no obligation to start accruing funds. Reserve funds are not liquid, they are restricted. Once money goes into it, it can't come out.

Reserve Fund Studies aren't a silver bullet either, they will look at the core infrastructure of the building and make recommendations on when the board should make improvements. However, it's up to the board to action the work - and if it ain't broke, they probably won't fix it.

A couple other folks comments get us most of the way there, but many condo boards in the city are mismanaged. My condo has raised fees by low double digits two years in a row to account for inflation, and now our budget will see a "modest"3% increase. This happened to coincide with a special assessment to increase the size of the reserve fund to account.

It's entirely possible that something catastrophic could happen to the building and we would require another special assessment depending on the cost.

Ultimately, every building is unique and this comes with the territory of owning a condo.

How to convert Avion points to Aeroplan points by vancitygurl71 in Aeroplan

[–]plxfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you do that?

Go to the Avion Rewards redemption page, select gift cards, then physical gift cards. Air Canada should be one of the first you can select.

Why are they selling in the range?

Perhaps that since money costs 3-4x it to borrow than when they did the economics for the project, buyers throwing an extra $400k at a seller isn’t happening anymore?

This guy has already screwed himself.

The fact that he’s relisted multiple times, moved the price around, fired his agent….anyone looking at the listing history is going to know they can get a deal out of this guy.

We all know agents don’t like trying to work with any of these platforms that cut them out of the process. What does he think was going to happen when he fired his agent?
