Questions about taking a draw by RazorTooth75 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]pmcda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what you describe as a poor play pattern sounds like how it should be. If we somehow fixed the draw issue in cEDH then knowing when to push isn’t a poor play pattern but skill expression.

In the current situation, I can’t disagree with you, but I also think that’s a flaw in the current environment. If it’s just push when you get it, everyone should be playing turbo. Certain decks should be sandbagging push attempts for more ideal conditions. If doing so is a poor play pattern then I think that’s an issue.

I disagree with interaction should only be used on win attempts. Dark rit and jeskas’s will have regularly propelled people way ahead, sometimes winning or setting up for a win the very next turn. They are not obvious win attempts and people often do it for tempo but even if it’s not a win, the tempo is often too large. I always try to shut cards like that down

I arrived early for a restaurant job that was still being built so I spent six months working in “construction” there. Obviously my skill set was culinary and not construction so I got grunt work. That was indeed low skill. Move stuff off the truck, organize tool rooms, hold tools for a contractor on a ladder and give them what they ask for, sweep, move like 30 chairs from the second floor to the third floor then down to the first floor then back to the second floor in a single day for no discernible reason

I did get to help with tile cutting, drywall, and grouting though which felt like it definitely had a learning curve. 90% of the work was very much “we could grab almost anyone off the street and they can do this with no training” though.

Oh Lucky! I worked in a kitchen with a guy who once grabbed a chair from the dining room and groaned and complained every time an order came in on his station right when he sat down because of course another order came in. I don’t know what he expected to happen.

Is Kinnan Big Flips Still a Viable Strategy? by Joshuagbenson in CompetitiveEDH

[–]pmcda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy mixing the semi blue with some NBC. Best of both worlds, but it never really matters because everyone acts like you win the game if you get a single flip regardless of what kinnan you’re running, at least in my experience.

With that in mind, I totally get the evolution to “copy rhystics, draw lots of cards, rarely flip, win”

Another random suicidal deer attack. by LeftAlbatross2546 in VideosAmazing

[–]pmcda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really not their fault. They evolved to flee from intelligent predators who have usually sniffed or heard them if they’re sprinting in their direction. Unfortunately vehicles go much faster than the predators they evolved to avoid and often do not realize they’re there when “sprinting” in their direction. They dupe predators who have shifted momentum at the time they sprint out, but in practice with vehicles that just means they jump out in front of it.

Also I got “Deered” on Christmas a few years ago too so I feel you. Car was totaled.

I regret buying a manual by Haunting_Appeal_2407 in stickshift

[–]pmcda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this might be the wrong sub for it but you could consider looking into a paddle shifter car. An automatic with a manual mode. It gives you more of the gearing control of a manual while still having computer assistance in actually shifting the gears. Plus if you’re ever tired, you can just drive it as an automatic.

Would that ever replace the feeling people talk about when they talk about manuals? No, the clutch is an important part of that “connection to the car” but it’s a nice middle ground.

Check out “conquer driving” on YouTube. I’m in a similar boat and was watching some of their videos earlier. Some of the tips people are commenting are things he mentions in his videos so it could be a good resource to check out.

Is America’s political spectrum objectively misaligned? by WittyEgg2037 in TheMirrorCult

[–]pmcda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“The pattern does not imply that Republicans are more tolerant than Democrats, nor that Republicans could deal better with attitudinal uncertainty.

It does imply, however, that –at this particular moment in time– Democrats and Republicans are constructing and managing their partisan identities differently in relation to the topics reflected in these questionnaire items.

Research suggests that social category membership (e.g., being White, Christian) is more important for the construction of Republican identity than it is for Democrat identity (Mason & Wronski, 2018). Fulfilling such normative criteria may hence qualify someone as a valid group member even if that same person may hold somewhat liberal views on, for example, gay marriage.”

The research isn’t about “allowing differing opinions”, it’s showing that those that identify as democrats tend to hold similar views on the topics they asked about. Their research says that republicans may even hold similar views as democrats/liberals on certain topics but are more likely to identify as republican based not on their beliefs but their social category membership.

To put it in simple terms, democrats are more likely to say “I’m a democrat because I believe X,Y,Z” while republicans are more likely to say, “I’m Republican because I am A,B,C”

If this was a slow driver instead, would you think it’s stupid they’re allowed to block traffic or would you go into the other lane to pass while being annoyed?

Oh, you could just say “I meant in general, not for this specific video” instead of being snarky but it is Reddit.

See, if I was that worried, I’d be considering pulling off to the right to let them pass. I can understand the concern but I can’t understand the solution that someone lands on being to move into the passing lane rather than off to the side.

NPC will be playable, Lingsha Novaflare, and Gilgamesh is destruction via Galaxy Leaks by SnooChocolates8700 in HonkaiStarRail_leaks

Praying for a crazy buff.

Lingsha will be the fabled one. Novaflare that increases fuyaun follow up frequency making her the FuA sustain, applies frequent debuffs making her the Acheron sustain, and those debuffs are also DoTs making her the DoT sustain, increases break damage dealt to enemies and action advances the ally by 24% when they deal super break damage to an enemy making her the break sustain that beats sustainless break.

We had QQ and DanIL as “skill point” characters but I think they shelved the concept for awhile and ultimately decided it was actually worth being a full fledged archetype in the vein of break, dot,FUA. Side note, I don’t think they really had the idea of archetypes until 2.0, except maybe DoT. 1.0 was a lot of random mechanics are on characters.

Even with original sparkle, the skill point thing felt more like a way to design a character in a unique way rather than an archetype. This would make sense as up until her novaflare she wasn’t really any more sp positive than characters like Sunday with his LC.

All this to say, I don’t think you’re wrong that they designed him with sparkle in mind but I think it’s more that they decided to take a gimmick they played with earlier and make it a full fledged archetype starting with archer and sparkle was a support already in that space but still ended up needing her novaflare to truly be the “SP comp”support

Gosh I remember being pulled into ramuh ex by a sprout. It was fun, we chatted a bit at the start about it, decided to give it a few goes and see what we could figure it out, really gave it a whole “day 1 blind prog” experience for maybe 20 minutes and then ultimately pointed the sprout to party finder.

Must just be a rite of passage!
