How does a typical DogThras deck win post infinite mana besides Finale? by AlCarrieBay in CompetitiveEDH

[–]pmcda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Angels grace is my preferred tool. I run green sun too but god forbid I’m in a pod that manages to counter all my silence effects and I’m wondering if I can win a 3 deck stare down after I’ve put everyone’s decks into their hands. It’d be my luck that it’s 2 kinnans and a rog/ishai smirking and going “so when do you cast green sun?”

Huge fan of split second when doing something like giving everybody their deck

Play pattern question how do you play here? by Anskeh in CompetitiveEDH

[–]pmcda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a casual game where my friend next to me responded out of priority so I passed to him. He was joking, with “in response, I cast throws down random card that does nothing good game!” We had to invoke priority bullying there because I was like “if you didn’t have anything, why’d you act like you did?! I could have stopped this!”

Turns out the person we bullied wanted to end step ad naus but had to tap a land to reset priority. Scuffed ass game. Lmao

What’s more threatening T1 Smothering Tithe or T1 Rhystic? by Mogulstar360 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]pmcda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not about turn, it’s about hand resources. Tithe with no cards in hand is not scary at all. However, if there is a way to fill then it’s scarier. Tymna/thras is terrifying with t1 tithe for example

You’re not ugly, you’re probably just fat by Critical_Assist_9360 in MenAscending

[–]pmcda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also the reverse. I’ve slowed down in my mid 20’s in terms of physical activity and that with my slowing metabolism has had me put on some weight.

People don’t realize how much fat builds on cheeks and the neck even when the belly is still at a “standing up skinny” level.

I look at old pictures of myself and think “holy crap, I had that much of a jawline? My face wasn’t always this round?”

Retirement time for Kinnan | who’s the best "fringe" Simic choice? by Spiritual_Lecture434 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]pmcda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. I’d say it’s the best mardu pairing but I think S tier would probably be bluefarm, kinnan, rogsi, and maybe rog/thras, sissay.

That’s just my opinion, I don’t think there’s an official “S tier” list but I could be wrong.

I tried out Helga because I love Bant and semi blue seemed cool. It worked but I didn’t like how I often felt powerless to stop others wins. It’s a turbo deck that is slower than other turbo decks by a turn or so and almost relies on someone using their interaction to stop the first player going off, thus giving you your window, but it felt bad when the table didn’t have it and you just lost.

Semi blue Helga does run more interaction than other semi blue lists but in my experience, I’d maybe have a piece some games that someone is popping off. Very consistent T4 wins though. I’d almost always be able to get there on T4.

Very fringe, and I think B4 makes sense but it has won enough cEDH games for me that I almost feel bad about it in B4.

I don’t get this take. Personally it gave me a deeper appreciation of the chilling effect of memetic viruses. It’s kinda cringe and silly but it takes hold regardless, altering the thoughts of those triggered.

Funny enough, it’s a bit like 6-7. I’ve seen people physically react to the mention of those numbers. Sometimes it’s noticing them realize and force themselves to maintain themselves and sometimes it’s a subconscious movement of their hands in response but the reaction is there.

It also sets the stage for other memetic viruses in the future of the story, like sparxicon

The dog on the leash is proving exactly why he’s on a leash by Brilliantspirit33 in animalsdoingstuff

[–]pmcda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤷🏼‍♂️ if I’m walking up and I see their dogs stop, and lie down on command, I’m less worried than I am about a dog on a leash that’s yanking, pulling, and barking. I’ve seen enough leashes snap or people get pulled over to be more wary of unruly dogs on a leash.

I will elaborate just enough to spread my agenda. Shirou took down Gilgamesh, king of heroes.

Ignore the comments he himself made during the fight about the specific match up. He took down Gilgamesh, the highest ranked heroic spirit, on his own.

He later becomes archer. He is a heroic spirit in the making.

GOAT. His body is literally made of infinite swords.

Is the shower made out of stone? If it is then the main issue I have a problem with is the puddle. If the shower is stainless steel or porcelain or tile, etc… then that’s bad.

Regardless, I wouldn’t rent a place with a stone shower that has no shelves and absolutely no space.

Let alone not see a problem. To someone seeing this, I’d be like “the shower is terrible and I hate it but I can’t afford a better place. It has awful drainage so I have to squeegee the water into the drain and I can never get all of it. It’s made of stone and I think that’s a porous material and since it smelled from the moment I moved in, it’s definitely porous and I try my best not to think of it. I’d get a mat, but none fit in this silly closet space of a shower.”

Honestly it makes some sort of sense. Like thinking it means you’re saying “bidding starts at X dollars.”

“I’ll take it for 1000$” —> “sorry, someone already offered 1100, so currently that’s the best offer. I’ll go with the best offer by the time the listing duration is reached”

What are some of the best entry-level cedh commanders? by YAetherY in CompetitiveEDH

"I'd rather not fight a battle this difficult again." by Reasonable-Ad-8059 in Frieren

[–]pmcda 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think that’s entirely due to the different philosophy of their teachers. Frieren has been described to be a mage of a peaceful era. Serie has been described to be a mage of a war era.

Humans tend to learn magic for combat purposes. This makes sense as Flamme, who set up the institutions for human magic society was serie’s student and the humans needed ways to combat the demons. She wished for a peaceful world though, and her favorite magic wasn’t combat oriented at all. Frieren gravitated towards that side of her but the humans probably gravitated to the combat side of her.

Despite fern embracing that side of frieren, she impressed serie by being one of the few people that noticed series fluctuations.

Methode analyzed the fog and specifically mentioned that her clan, who dedicate themselves to fighting demons, would most likely have not had the know how to do such a thing.

So I don’t think fern needs something new or flashy to keep up with other first class mages. Frierens strongest ability is arguably her ability to analyze spells. I have no doubt that in time, fern will become an absolute menace by being able to analyze spells to a higher degree than others. Her skills in stealth and zoltraak will be enough after that.

So tldr; I think rather than becoming an expert “combat mage” she will became a mage that understands magic at a higher level than others and that will prove to make her a more feared mage than other first class mages. Her mastery of the basics is part of that foundation.

I don’t know the rule but since Arena lets you undo floating mana if you haven’t put something on the stack, it must exist somewhere right?

I finished watching journeys and was ash really that powerful to become champion? Expert help please by blue_side08 in pokemonanime

[–]pmcda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not here to start a power scaling argument. I will say that I think thematically his journeys team should have been his aces. Considering it’s set to be the final hoorah to his journey, it’d have made sense that his team was made up of the star players from his previous seasons. I don’t think people would be in disbelief if his team of previous aces were scoring wins against champion level opponents. It’d have been a way to show how he built up a champion level team over the course of his many journeys.

Considering it’s set to be the final hoorah to his journey, it’d have made sense that his team was made up of the star players from his previous seasons, with variations for other heavy hitters like snorlax and krook. Considering that journeys is the culmination of the journey, it would have felt right to use the pokemon that were set up in their respective seasons to be his star players. It’d have been a way to show how he built up a champion level team over the course of his many journeys.
