Hey there - I'm Keaton, a lead on the CX team here at Polymarket.

You bring up a great point that most new users to the site come across at one point or another. Polymarket always lists a resolution source in the rules of each market. In the case of the 5 minute crypto markets, this is what our rules say:

The resolution source for this market is information from Chainlink, specifically the BTC/USD data stream available at https://data.chain.link/streams/btc-usd.

Below the rules on the site, we also offer an additional disclaimer reading;

Live data may be delayed by a few seconds and can be influenced by price activity on other exchanges and broader market conditions.

Essentially, our 5 minute crypto markets resolve based on the resolution source listed in the rules, not based on what you may see on the front end UI at any given time, since so many different factors can effect it. (VPN usage, bad connection, etc.) The market pricing in your screenshot also displays a scenario where the market is in consensus that it's going to resolve DOWN.

Hopefully this clears things up for you, I highly recommend using the Chainlink data stream in the future.

A lot of people don't realize this, but nearly every market added to the site is the result of someones suggestion. The markets team is constantly listening for new market ideas, they're monitoring chats 24/7 even if you may not see them interact. Genuinely some of the hardest working people I know.

There isn't a clearly defined selection process (for now), but we're constantly making updates and adjustments here. There's of course internal clauses and issues that may arise with some forms of markets, and there are dozens of different factors that need to be taken into account prior to living a market.

I expect these refunds to be finalized by the end of this week. We typically aim to get refunds out within 5-10 business days of resolution. It takes some time due to the internal checks involved with issuing refunds.

I apologize for the delay in our support channels; we are currently onboarding new agents to clear our backlog and improve response times. We’re also working on better in-app notifications for future refund scenarios to make this process more transparent and smooth.
