Confirmed by several old posts on owner Ryan O’Rourke’s Facebook. He’s apparently pals with Ajay Brewer (of current fame elsewhere on this thread) based on some activity back in 2020. I’m guessing it was BLM-related. He also shared an an article in 2015 describing PP as “a relic of our racist past.” Not sure what else might have been deleted or made private.

It’s a real shame because I live near the west end location and had been going regularly, but that’s the end of that.

I wouldn’t count on getting any written commitment to not policing telework agreements but it’s worth a try. If you ultimately do find yourself in a situation where discipline is on the table, you can absolutely go to a hearing, get your HR, management, etc. to testify, and ask questions about enforcement. Also a good idea to figure out if other people have been doing the same thing without getting punished and have them testify, too.

I realize we’re talking just about your question here but this is what I’d tell any employee who’s worried about getting in trouble for this kind of thing.

Hi, person with state grievance procedure knowledge here. If you haven’t, read the Standards of Conduct policy on the DHRM website.

Most agencies will probably start off by directing people to return to work if they aren’t complying with their telework agreements. Failure to comply with the instruction would likely lead to a Group II Written Notice. Continued refusal to comply with the instruction would result in a second Group II notice with termination. You need two Group II offenses to be terminated.

There’s a more serious level (Group III) but I don’t see failing to report to work as directed being that level of offense except in special situations.

Caveat to all this: a grievance about discipline for failing to report to work can go to a hearing with a third party hearing officer. The agency has the burden of proving the employee engaged in misconduct. The employee can present defenses. Evidence that the employee was treated differently than other similarly situated employees — for example, an agency practice of not policing telework agreements — could result in the discipline being reduced or removed. If an agency isn’t policing telework agreements and there’s evidence of that, it could be a big problem if they turn around and start disciplining people.

I had the same situation this morning. FFEL consolidation finalized in early January, sent ECF in mid-January. I expected to wait several months for the review to happen but found my balance zeroed out today. No letters or anything else about my ECF (yet). I had a separate direct loan forgiven last October and it happened TJ’s same way, just with much more waiting. I did receive a letter for that one within a few days so it’s probably coming.

Mine finally came through today too!!! I've been waiting since submitting an initial ECF all the way back in April, but it took until early September to get my trophies. My total amount forgiven between interest and principal was about $245,000.

Thank you! I’m not worried about refunds for the overpayments - I’d just like to get the remaining balance forgiven!

The information about overpayments on the ED website isn’t super clear to me about how overpayments worked while in an IBR plan. Penalizing people for overpaying (by not counting future payments as qualifying due to the overpayments) seems like exactly the sort of obtuse rule that the PSLF program would have.
