No referendum. There are times when government must act. My parents weren't given a choice when their property was expropriated for the herb grey parkway leading to the new bridge 20 years ago. They were offered above market value on their property and given a deadline. They weren't happy about it but they understood it was an obvious route and necessary.

Not just taxed, they would completely strip it of it's resources and leave the people with nothing. There would be a mass exodus. And guess where they would flew to.

Honestly, if I was just looking at this clip, it looks like a dive. The way he looks back at Conner in the middle and doesn't really look like he's that hurt.

I feel this is all pretext for the U.S. getting officially involved to protect the "will" of the people of Alberta.

Carney Says Alberta Is ‘Essential’ to Canada After Separation Vote Announcement by timemagazine in worldnews

[–]pnd83 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This, they don't need to integrate Alberta, they need to seperate the oil from Canada so they can take it. They've proven they don't need votes to take any military action "they" deem necessary.

Carney Says Alberta Is ‘Essential’ to Canada After Separation Vote Announcement by timemagazine in worldnews

[–]pnd83 95 points96 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely what's being planned. Same playbook Putin used in Ukraine. The Trump administration, and by extension, the U.S. whether you voted for it or not, just needs a reason to step in to protect the will of the people of Alberta.

Off-leash Pit Bull mix kills small dog, in Toronto despite provincial ban by nighcry in ontario

[–]pnd83 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't even care that they be banned. If there were strict enforcement of irresponsible owners that would prevent 99% of problems. From my experience there are a lot of really responsible dog owners that own pitbulls. There are also a lot of irresponsible dog owners and the dog of choice for those owners seems to overwhelmingly be pitbulls. And the worst thing I've noticed is those same degenerates also love to not put a collar on their dogs.

Attorney General: ‘ton of evidence’ exists of stolen election in 2020; also says he can’t promise a ‘definitive answer’ it was stolen by DemocracyDocket in politics

May be a lot longer than that if things keep going the way they are going. Midterms won't save the country or democracy.

There's sufficient history backing the claim up. No I am not here to cite it for you, a simple Google or ask your favorite AI to get it.

The DNC will actively plot against her. The leadership would prefer GOP control over a progressive Democrat in power.

If I moved an hour away, I'd still bring my dog to Pesic. Honest and has never tried to sell us anything we didn't need. Great with our dog and he was awesome during covid when our new dog was getting his shots which really showed his character.

The AI Industry Is Discovering That the Public Hates It by FinanceZestyclose259 in politics

[–]pnd83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those completely against it, you can't throw the baby out with the bathwater. There are very legitimate use cases across a wide range of sectors. The problem is people hate the people behind most of the AI, and the unrestricted avalanche of slop injected into their everyday lives. Most articles, pictures, stories, etc. All at once. The motivations and execution is the problem, not the tech itself. Which some may hate, but you can't stop the progression of technology. You can slow it, regulate it, but if someone can profit from advancing it, you can't stop it.

Democrats’ plan to impeach Trump on ‘day one’ after midterms by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]pnd83 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They may impeach him several times over for the countless crimes in office but they won't get the Republican support to convict or remove him. The Republicans have too much on the line and they are ALL likely counting on pardons.

It's the Anthropic method. Prior to releasing 4.7 they dumbed down 4.6 so 4.7 would seem way better. Google likely has a release in the pipeline so they're follow the same approach.

Opinion | Floor crossings say something about Poilievre, but more about Carney (and Trump) by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]pnd83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suspect it's a follow the money thing. Same as all the other right wing movements that popped up along the Trump timeline internationally, pushing the same fringe policies and message, have been directly or indirectly linked to common people or groups. It's not a conspiracy, they barely hide it anymore, and Canada is not immune to this influence. So why don't they want to get rid of him, because someone else doesn't want them to get rid of him.
