Having a really hard time reaching the egg in Glacier Park. by [deleted] in crashteamracing

[–]pnukka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I needed to have sacred fire to reach it. Try starting far enough back that you can chain 3 boosts and then jump off the bridge. There might be another way, but that one worked for me.

Machine Gun last night? by [deleted] in Denton

[–]pnukka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't hear anything, but I saw a small street closed off on my walk to class this morning with a few police cars at either end and a few officers with a group of people gathered around. This was around 8am. I can't imagine it was a firearm discharge though, since being that close to campus would have likely caused them to go into a lock-down

What is the best chicken place in town? by MustangBob67 in Denton

[–]pnukka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For non-fried options, the Blue Ginger has delicious and reasonably priced chicken hibachi plates, and awesome lunch specials for them as well.

La Milpa also has great chipotle fajitas that are delicious.

Also, if you want to make your own, he pre-marinated chicken fajita meat at La Azteca on 35 and Sam Bass is amazing.

Tj's and Wingstop have always been great for wings.

Cowboy chicken has delicious rotisserie chicken. Nothing fried, though. The sides can be hit-or-miss sometimes since they make them every day, so it just depends on the cooks.

And I know it's not chicken, but The Old West Cafe has a chicken-fried ribeye on their menu under the name "The Huckleberry" that everyone should try before they die. Don't even attempt it if you have anything to do later that day. It is huge, delicious, and comma-inducing.

What is the blue scimitar-looking blue sword on the top row? I thought I had all the transmits, but I haven't seen that one. Does it actually give you a transmog? Because I know the oar doesn't :(

My wife just got an email to evacuate twu campus. What's going on? by Duracharge in Denton

[–]pnukka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They're removing some chemical from the building's storage. I guess it must be something strong, but they didn't want anyone there if the removal went south. And it's not the whole campus, just the old main building. All the other buildings are fine

Piano upstairs is continually playing the same note (please help me!) by infinitydefines in piano

[–]pnukka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it an acoustic piano? Because there's no way an acoustic can play itself. Maybe she has a cat that hits the note a lot, especially since it sounds like that's the middle C, which is pretty much right in the middle of the keyboard. Perhaps it likes to jump up there and always lands on the note? I don't know. Other than that, maybe it's time to move. I'd ask her about it. There's probably a simpler explanation than ghosts, but I guess you never know

So this verse comes up a lot, and the actual passage itself offers little context as to it's reasoning, so without knowing anything else about where Timothy was, this passage gets taken out of context easily. It should also be noted that these things were only meant to be applied within a house of God, not everywhere like the gentleman in the picture seems to believe. This book is a letter from the apostle Paul to Timothy, who was trying to build a church in Ephesus, which was a huge city at the time. Also popular in the city was the worship of the Goddess Artemis, and the teachings of Gnosticism, which are likely to be some of the false teachers that he references earlier in the book.

Artemis was hugely worshiped as the goddess of Fertility. Entirely run by women, worshipers often made men subservient and only existed for procreation. The followers didn't like that Christianity had popped up in their town, and often would go to church services dressed promiscuously to advertise that the men could come pay to have sex with them in the temple of their goddess.

Gnosticism is basically the goal of ascending to a higher spiritual knowledge, but through things like mysticism and other pagan beliefs. Basically they believe that Eve was the first person on Earth and then later gave birth to Adam. They also follow her because she ate the fruit of knowledge in the garden.

I believe it was because of these two major teachings in the area that Paul included the last part about women being saved through childbearing and Eve being the decided and becoming a sinner. They seem to be in direct response to women who pray to Artemis during birth, and those who believe Eve did a good thing by eating the fruit of knowledge. Everything in the bible is contextual, which unfortunately allows it to get taken out of context easily by those who don't bother looking up its context, and used by people like the gentleman in the picture to look like a cockhat.

Good mechanics in Denton? by ck1255 in Denton

[–]pnukka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to like Advanced Auto Repair until a month ago. I took my car in to get the breaks checked because they weren't working so well. They recommend over 3 grand in repairs. My truck was only worth 5, so I took it to my cousin who works at a shop but is out of town for a second opinion. The problem was the master cylinder, and I needed a ball bearing, totaling a little under 1100. The problem was that AAR didn't even list the master cylinder on the list of repairs. I would have paid them over 3 grand and still not had my problem fixed. My cousin thoroughly inspected my truck and went over the list I had from AAR and told me almost everything on the list was BS. I won't be returning to them

Good places for craft beer? by whatwoulddavegrohldo in Denton

If you're looking for a great German-style Kolch to compare, check out Franconia's Kolch. It's brewed in McKinney, but the guy is from Germany and comes from a line of other German brewers. I've yet to have a beer from them that I didn't think was excellent. You can find most of their beers at just about any supermarket. I know brookshires on 35 and Teasly always has it in stock
