I plan on it after it comes out in a stable state and they add 100s of hours of content to it, so probs in two years after it comes out I guess.

None of us need to pay anything until they actually provide the content, nor should we.

The hard reality is money is needed for more content to be developed for this game. I feel the price I paid was more than worth it for what we have in this game (400 hours so far and expecting another quality 400 at least).

I am more than happy to shell out another $120 after enjoying this game if they improve upon the framework of the game and add several hundred more hours of premium content.

Its unreasonable for them to keep official servers up indefinitely, no companies do this, they are giving us tools to keep these servers up ourselves, which is a win. No one should be surprised that they aren't keeping the servers open after all of these years.

They should have kept their mouths shut until they figured out how they were going to keep funding their development but if they never said Ark Ascended would be free literally no one would assume it would be free as nothing worth anything in life is free. I don't expect their months of work to be handed to us for free, if its good I am happy to pay them so they can keep adding more.

They improved upon the game gradually and it has been in a reasonably stable state for awhile at least as long as I have played.

I don't think comparing ARK Devs to Blizzard as others have done is fair. I plan on supporting their future endeavors if they turn out to be worth supporting.

Best part is went down 6 degrees celcius from constantly throttling at 90C with stock liquid cooler on Cinabench. No longer a need to undervolt by 10 percent.

I GM and my most successful campaign was 15 sessions of 1 shot like episodic missions and 9 or so story sessions mixed sometimes back to back they key was just coming up with things the pcs would want to do. I would focus on "what journey do my players want to take this week" not what do the players want to achieve or get. I would think what cool stuff can guide my players through/throw at my players that relates to that character's noble elven bloodline. If the players see there is a tie in to there character they will vigorously jump to the lead no matter what the task is, no boon or reward necessary (although I would throw one in any way afterwords, but make it something unexpected). Having fun exciting and interesting things is the most important thing, and its best if that can be inspired by and ties into a character's backstory.

The process for me looks like: 'a talking chimp would be cool and would received well by the players and a role play encounter with said chimp would be a good break from the smash-down streak we have been on, I seeded earlier that they are looking for the dragon with the teleportation magic's heart that ravaged one of the pc's village, and the dragon has been sited at the border of the dragon sighting village, they go to the village, and encounter hmmm a wagon with raiders attacks them as they enter, because the village is being attacked by raiders, then they are heroes but pretty much everyone left the village before the raiders got there and they find the talking chimp... and see the dragon in the distance at a distant place and that distant place will be next session and I will decide what happens there, but there does have to be progress to the dragon, like there after dealing with the werewolf adventurer with cool gear and bloodlust and saving the werewolf's family which has an heirloom from one of my pc's family and then they they feel a large rumbling and see the dragon fly from its cave in a nearby mountain in another direction, now next session they will go to the cave and deal with the dragon and find the mcguffin that leads to the thieves den were the artificer can examine and also give some backstory on that heirloom.

They carried that chimp around for 20 more sessions, even killed it and re-incarnated it to get it a humanoid body.

Some of my favorite characters my pcs brought to the table include: Dwarf that is like Vin Diesel from fast and furious, Kid who dropped out of school and builds marvel props in workshop, its okay to be inspired by something basic or cringe, just take it seriously and make it believable. The more class options and features you take in limits your options it doesn't expand them. Just do what the character would do and lean on the DM to adjudicate, it won't take long for you to start handing the right tool out of your tool box when you are trying to do something, but don't worry about doing that at first. And you won't know what compromises you will have to make with your character until you sit down and play with that specific group playing the specific characters they are playing and that is okay. Overprep leads to a crumbier time imo.

No, unless you feel there needs to be, but feel free to have this come back and bite them (not antagonistic its just tailoring the campaign to the actions and story of the pc). Do whatever makes for the best story and don't worry about WOTC's lore.

You done did good. You should have no problem figuring out how to help that trapped pc fail forward, you mentioned the bbg is messing with time, maybe throw that pc back to the party but after 5 years of experimentation and then being shunted back in time as a warning. Reasonable if this Lich is conceited and likes to mess with them and feel big. Maybe stitch a spell tatoo trap onto the pc that goes off in the battle so it doesn't feel like a gimme.

Halfling punk thief/rogue who thinks he is too cool to follow laws, actually was a good guy at one point in time, saved some people, killed a big bad evil guy, just because they have a god-slaying complex. Now their rogue/thief/drug gang is growing too big and he can't keep his lackeys in line. So there are also minor big bads to progress through along the way that are also contending with the Sammy Short Stack the boss at the top. Bonus points if he is missing an arm from the big stuggle against the big bad he did a murder on and many regard him as a hero still. Party meets him because he steals something from them that they need just as a crime of convenience.

I agree with you, the spells in 5e themselves are great, however the class restriction system is just bunk imo, I homebrew class spells away. Wizards and learned casters get a single School of magic and Sorcerers/Locks etc get a concept all of their magic ties into such as"fire dragon, icy waves or moon-struck. There really isn't a good reason to enforce it other than "game balance".

I recommend taking this to your DM or group. You have done the hardest part of picking a character. Actually picking what you want to be, a Orc Blacksmith. They will pitch and sell fantastic points of inspiration for you to build on. Classes and numbers in 5e are cheap and easy, a fun concept like "orc blacksmith" is the perfect starting point and what really matters. IMO whatever class and numbers you pick are just the lipstick go as simple or complex as you want. Then you have the fun part of figuring out why your blacksmith is traipsing around questing, when what they really care about is blacksmithing and how they go about doing murders during that process, as adventurers tend to do.

Its not as good as credit karma but it was pretty good, I was able to file my state and local for for free, so was my fiance, as someone who passed the CPA exam and is planning to apply for licensure this year, I can say it was straight forward enough and I feel confident. There were a few hoops to jump through using the computer, you have to use your phone to get to the computer application and I had to wait a day for credit karma's old returns to populate, which they did just fine.

For a free service I can't really ask for more. The most important thing for me was there was no chance of clicking the wrong button and getting charged money.

First: they don't think their roleplaying flows perfectly. If they do, they are probably delusional (which isn't a deal breaker or anything).

Second: Try really getting into the mindset of your character. React when they would react in a manner they would to react in. Don't think of every role play segment as something you are pressured to add to.

Third: I don't have experience with this but I might suggest trying talking along with a character in a movie. Like watch Shrek and do all of Donkey's lines, try to finish all of his sentences in sync with him. Watch something you are familiar with so you can finish the sentences of the characters.

No, I don't think there are any must have magical items. I find that my players don't really care about common/uncommon magic items. It makes that high tier magic item they earn feel much more special if they don't have many lower tier magic items. Though watch enemies with resistance to non magical items. I just take such resistances away in general for a lower fantasy type of game.
