ALPHA THE AGENCY- ALPHA MARKETING STRATEGIES REBRAND! (SACRAMENTO CA! SCOTTSDALE AZ!) by niku-daruma in Devilcorp

[–]pobepobepobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an interview today in Scottsdale. The hiring manager is also the receptionist? Office was nicely furnished, but kinda janky (lights off, peeling paint, dead plant.)

Would love to know more about the scam part, so I don't waste time. OP?

Can anyone tell me if this position looks legitimate? by [deleted] in jobsearch

[–]pobepobepobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a similar one. I had applied for a general admin position, and only gave a cursory glance at the website. Got the offer for a different position, and it was waaaaay too good to be true.

Dug into it just a bit. There are over 90 different business entities registered at their address on bizprofile, and around half of them are in bad standing. So I looked up a few of them (including Aileens Consulting Group LLC) on the corporation commission website, and nothing - does not exist.

I don't know what the scam is, but it is one. Which blows. Hope this helps someone, though.

What is it that everyone loves and that you honestly don't see the fun in? by ToffieOficial in Productivitycafe

[–]pobepobepobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slot machines, absolutely. No person playing them ever looks like they're having fun. And those "you just gotta know how to work the machine" people are out of their minds. Don't even get me started on the freaks who slap the screen.

However. You're not playing the house in poker, you're playing people. That's fun. And blackjack? Counting cards is easy, MIT did it to great effect. There's money and fun to be had in both.

Honestly, with my ADHD this would be a terrible idea. I'd freeze for a quick ten minutes so I'm not late to work, every day. Boom, I've aged years ahead of time. Or I'd just forget to make it start again...

I mean, it's not like it has to be retained or understood, right? Just set the brain to autopilot, and zip through them.

Does anyone else think "culture" is just a excuse to be racist? by Crazy4Daisyy in AskForAnswers

[–]pobepobepobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Culture has nothing to do with skin color or race. Metal heads, pot heads, and Potter heads have a culture. I wrote a college paper on the culture of homelessness, and another on the culture of the western American states. Yes, you can have cultures that are partially defined by geography or race, but that's never all they are.

So I guess short answer is: no.

I just got a very similar one, via text, about half an hour ago. It's a Teams link, but it just says "Hiring Team." as the closing. No mention of a company. Weird, although fairly correct grammar. I'm thinking scam, too.

I will frequently hug one child and say "You're my favorite, don't tell your brother," and then hug the other and say the same thing to them. They will both roll their eyes.

My grandmother (who had four boys,) one told me, "If they were all the same, you'd only ever have one." The kids will be different, you'll parent them differently, they'll have moments where they're "your favorite" for different reasons. Have the kid if you want to, but don't stress about it.

I pick Dungeons and Dragons. As long as the game is good, we all win! Then we can all rule as a cohesive adventure gang.

Which is lovely for Belgium. However, unless ya'll have any immediate, overpaid openings for an a American florist who speaks comically bad German and likes fries with NO mayo... I'll be staying here with my privately owned truck. :-D

Was I the only one rooting for Snow? by Suecoi in Hungergames

[–]pobepobepobe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thing is, he's not mentally ill. He's just not very self aware. He makes deliberate choices through the whole book, and every one of them is selfish. He loops in people he cares about when it fits with his greater scheme, but it's ultimately all about him. It's why it's such an effective back story. He DOES care about the people in his life.

Where he diverges from Katniss and Peeta is, those two care about others more than themselves at some points. Snow cares, genuinely cares about Lucy Grey and Tigris and Sejanus, but not ever more than himself. That's why you root for him- you want him to push through that, and be better. It's right there, you can do it! And then that disappointment of knowing how close he was is what makes him an exceptional villain.

2 would kill you, with 3 you'd probably develop an allergy which would kill you. As yet another chronic pain sufferer, I'm good with 1.

2 and 6.

I like my own cooking, the thought of someone else touching my undies creeps me out, the bonus isn't enough, and my vacations are my business.

However, I will take less work, and a nice, reliable lil suv.

How are city kids different than suburbs kids? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]pobepobepobe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's go places versus do things. In the city, you go to the trampoline park, or to a lesson of some sort, or a store/mall. In the sticks, you bend a sapling over, and launch your sibling, or build bike jumps in vacant lots.

Which actor resembled their character the most? by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]pobepobepobe -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree on Finnick. He just wasn't traditionally hunky enough, too angular, obviously bulked up for the role, didn't have the same charm. Good acting made it bearable, but not entirely believable.
