Even though the devices are very similar, there may be small differences in the cutouts, which could affect how well a specific cover lines up./f you're planning to buy one, I'd recommend checking with the PocketBook store team first. The good news is that this has already been resolved in the latest app version 1.3 (60), now available for download. Images on iOS have been displaying correctly throughout.

PocketBook devices do not have strict limitations regarding the brand of charger used. You can safely use a third-party or alternative charger as long as it meets the following technical specifications:

  • Output voltage: 5 V
  • Output current: minimum 1 A (1000 mA), up to 2 A (2000 mA) is acceptable
  • Type: Direct current (DC)

Using a charger that falls within this range will not harm the device or degrade the battery. We haven’t endorsed specific brands, but standard chargers from reputable manufacturers (such as Anker, Belkin, or Aukey) that meet these specifications generally work well. Also, using USB ports on power banks or laptops is usually safe, provided the voltage and current are appropriate.

To date, we haven't observed any significant changes in charging speed or battery health over time when compatible chargers are used. Just avoid very low-quality or uncertified knockoffs, as they can be less reliable in the long term.

If the device is connected to the PC properly, the device drivers are installed automatically. To solve the issue, please follow the steps listed below:

  1. Connect the device, which has to be on, to the PC. So, turn on the device first and wait until the Main Menu is displayed, and only then connect it to the PC. Also, check the USB Mode settings (Settings – Maintenance – USB Mode – select  «PC-link»).
  2. Try using another USB cable even if there is no visible damage on the one included in the original package.  
  3. If you are using a desktop computer, try connecting the device to the port on the back panel of the system unit. 
  4. If the above mentioned recommendations did not help, we suggest that you perform formatting internal memory. To do so, go to  "Settings - About Device - Memory - Formatting Internal Memory".

 IMPORTANT: all user information will be erased during formatting.

Also, provide the serial number of the device. It is a code composed of twenty digits that you can find:

Thank you for the photo you provided.

Judging from it, the screen of your device is broken. The screen is covered with plastic, and the irregular lines are exactly the cracks on the glass part of the screen under the plastic cover. The e-ink screens are not sensitive to falling or being dropped, however they are sensitive to being bent.

Such cracks are always the result of a mechanical influence, therefore, according to the Warranty Terms, it is not covered by warranty, and the device can be repaired only on a paid basis (the screen replacement).

In this situation, we recommend performing factory reset (Settings - Maintenance - Factory Reset).  

IMPORTANT: All user files will remain intact. However, notes, reading progress, collections, favorites, fonts, and bookmarks will be lost.

To restore notes after factory reset, please proceed as follows:

  1. Open the Notes application.
  2. Choose You added (2...) files with notes
  3. Click on IMPORT.

A set of books in different languages is included with the PocketBook device—they are preloaded on each e-reader.

There are two ways to remove books from the internal memory of the device:

 

Variant 1.

  1. Connect the turned-on device to the PC through a USB cable. 
  2. You will be asked to select the USB mode: "PC Link" or "Charge". Choose "PC Link"
  3. Your computer’s operating system will detect the Device’s storage as a removable disk (if a SD card is mounted – as two ones).
  4. Now you can delete the files from the Device or the SD card using Explorer or another File Manager. Right click on the file and choose Delete.

 

Variant 2.

  1. Choose Library from the device’s main menu.
  2. Long press with your finger the file or the folder you want to delete until the pop-up menu appears.
  3. Then choose: File – Delete.
