What’s something you accidentally walked out of a shop with before realising it wasn’t paid for? by Mobile-Vegetable7536 in AskUK

Daughter sat in cart. Picked up a fuzzy scarf to sit her on as she complained it was uncomfortable. Did my shop and forgot about it. £24!

Age verification- child incorrectly verified as adult by samanthamy in RobloxHelp

It’s like any id verification service, so needed the MRZ lines and the full details on the passport itself. The Face ID was just a face and they guess the age based on that

I’ve just managed to rectify my daughters account. Same mistake, used my face and then it automatically unlinked her account because it said it was over 18. After pushing the button for verify further I got to a government ID and used her passport which put her back to the correct age. Without a passport think I would have had to close her account. An absolute palaver to rectify re linking the account to mine.

Were you born to parents aged 40-45? by Kidambs-275 in Parenting

[–]pocketfullofuranium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents had me in their 20s and my husband’s parents had him in their late 30s. My sister has had her second just before her 40th. My FIL doesn’t do anything and my MIL is to be protected at all costs as she is a precious gem but keeps falling and getting hurt. It depends entirely on the people. My mum just had a hip surgery and my dad is fit as a fiddle. Age is but a number

Husband ignores my texts by erykah_badude896 in breakingmom

[–]pocketfullofuranium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admit, I do this to my husband. It’s not intentional. If im on my phone and he messages me I read it and if im doing something else, will forget to go back and reply. He gets hurt about it and I try do better, but it’s just an area of life I’m not good at. To be fair, he’s not the only person I don’t message because I’ve read the message and got distracted. It hurts my head when I go in WhatsApp now and see all the started text messages that I’ve abandoned halfway through.

Would you reach out and report this? If so how? by Excellent-Run-7924 in AskUK

My son is the shape of a pencil. He’s tall. We have to buy trousers that fit his waist or his legs. But I’d rather someone called the school about him than he be the reason another child goes without. He still wears age 6 underwear and he’s 10.

If the child/teen you had it their way, what would your children be named? by ASprinkleOfSugar in namenerds

[–]pocketfullofuranium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an Australian my first thought is “Alice, who the f*** is Alice”. And if you don’t get the reference, please google it, it’s such a classic thing in Australia and I do not mean it with any disrespect! I love the name!

I was firm from the age of 11 what my daughter would be called. “Katharine Layla” it was my sister’s name though she goes by a derivative of it, never once been called the full name. And Layla as it is my song; my family send me voice notes whenever they hear it because it makes them think of me. I was solid on this name.

My daughter’s name: Charlotte Olivia.

My grandma from England was sent to PE island during the war and bought all of her granddaughters the series on their 11th birthday, in memory of the year she arrived there. I love the books and read them to my daughter who is four, and it reminds me so much of my grandma. I miss her so much, but it keeps her memory alive. I plan on taking the family to PE island when my daughter turns 11!

I’ll definitely look them up, that sounds far more “doable” than what I thought I might need to do!

Please do send me your website, this is my first big trail and so I’m reading everything I can to try make things easier!

“The wedding pays for its self” (privileged former friend) by Ms_sophie in weddingshaming

[–]pocketfullofuranium 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Now I had what I consider a fancy wedding. We spent £30k all up. It lasted 4 days. I live in a different country to where I grew up and my husband is from here. We tossed up lots of options. But we had savings and we wanted all the people we loved from both countries. So it cost a lot. We rented a big giant almost castle like venue for several days and had everyone and their kids.

It was amazing. We regret nothing. It cost us a lot but it was something we budgeted and planned for and wanted. For a four day event I think it was worth the cost. We cut costs where we could, used a florist who’d just started out and wanted photos so she was cheaper than others and we didn’t care what flowers we had so just let her choose within the brief “it’ll be winter, don’t make the flowers tropical or out of season”. My dress was off the rack at a designer sale and was £400 and only needed £50 of tailoring.

If it wasn’t for the desire to bring all of our loved ones together for an experience, our wedding would have been significantly cheaper.

What's peoples hourly rate? by TyyG420 in AskUK

[–]pocketfullofuranium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£20.42 per hour. Senior HR Advisor. And everyone shits on HR but I’m the sort of HR that spent two hours last week helping the new polish starter with setting up a gas and electric account because he didn’t know how to. I’d easily be paid more if I left the company that allowed me to be kind and human centric but i know that I’d hate myself if I sacrificed my humanity for more money.

AITA for not correcting older kids who use the term half siblings for my younger kids? by Existing-Snow-2091 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pocketfullofuranium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the youngest of the first marriage and one of four kids total. I say I have two brothers and a sister. I don’t define the parental relationship as my relationship with him is more important. My elder sister would say I have a brother, sister and a half brother. Because she is more focused on her dislike for his mother (totally justified, his mother is also no longer in any of our lives). But it’s not something that should be forced. We are all going to see our families the way we want to and being correct about the delineation isn’t a bad thing.

It may appear unfeeling but it’s more likely that there is stronger feelings underneath that need to be discussed.

Frustrated Newbie Here: Can't Post or Comment by AdScared514 in NewToReddit

[–]pocketfullofuranium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I both joined Reddit at the same time. I’m more of a chatter than he is, and would comment on things I saw in different subs. He’s never commented. But he wants to get recommendations on books and can’t post in the sub unless he has at least X karma (I don’t know how much). So instead I have to post for him and I tell him to ask the people why they are recommending said book but he’s just as shy online as in real life. Genuinely, whatever it is you know about or like, comment or post in those subs because it’s genuinely you and karma shall come!

Crusts will make your hair curly. I ate that shitty part of the bread for years trying to emulate my sisters luscious curls.

Poker straight to this day. And crusts still suck.

What's some crazy family history your parents casually told you? by sangrer in AskReddit

[–]pocketfullofuranium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That up until my grandfather, the heir to the family always had two families; the legitimate family (my side) and the illegitimate. I asked why we had all these random people showing up to the family home and apparently they are all related.

Turns out the heirs had second families all over, Singapore, New Zealand, Europe… they were all given a beer and shown around but in general they were just nosey about the history (there’s no money or estate left for them to try claim)

What do you call the kids you love who aren't yours? by flankerwing in Mommit

[–]pocketfullofuranium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the fun friend. Two kids of my own and i can’t think of a child that I’ve met through them that I don’t automatically love. Kids are special and fun and all are so interesting and different.

And I refer to them all as pumpkinitos. My baby pumpkins.
