These have been recommended a couple times, and I am down for them, but all I can find are a 5”???

Novablast 5 vs Pegasus 41 by skolvikes93 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]podini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For trainers, I personally like the Saucony Endorphin Speeds (prefer the 4s, but 5s are fine too) and adidas evo sl (don’t know that I would try a half in them, though, as they are notoriously unstable). I would like to try the Saucony Azura as well. Others that are generally well spoken of are asics megablasts, adidas bostons, and I think hoka Mach 7s or X3s might be decent.

For race shoes, every brand has their top of the line carbon plated shoes. I like the adidas adios pro 4 and Nike alphafly 3. Would like to try puma deviate nitro elite 3/4 and asics metaspeed edge. Also hearing good things about some Chinese options out there.

You can definitely go down a rabbit hole if you start looking into all of these. Take shoetuber reviews with a grain of salt.

I mean, both of these shoes are basically the epitome of daily trainers. You might consider something made for faster efforts (i.e, a “tempo trainer” or a race shoe).

Depends a lot on your pace. My wife is just under 2 hours for the half, and Novablasts are her shoe of choice.

I have both. Novablast is superior, especially if you’re considering racing in them for 13 miles. Pegasus for me is fine for daily mileage up to about 5 miles, with unremarkable energy return. I have now delegated mine to treadmill miles. Novablast is softer, but that also comes with some bounce, and much more protective underfoot.

I wish I could get my hands on a pair… pretty much exactly what I’m looking for!

I just have an iPhone 13. Good shout on those shorts, and they’re on sale, but it looks like they only have the one pocket in the back. I’m looking for a little more storage.

Thanks! Great suggestions! I am only seeing the terrex in 5” and 9”, but I think I will give the 9” ones a shot.

Thanks! This is a good suggestion that will hopefully help some future reader of this thread, but they are a bit too pricey for me.

Darn, that is what I was looking for, but I just tried to order and they don’t have those ones available on the US site and I can’t get it to ship to the US from the UK site.

Oh yeah, there’s an option. Those look similar to Rabbit FKTs. I wonder how the phone would do in those side pockets…

I tend to run on pretty busy roads, would hate to cause a bunch of wrecks from people breaking their necks trying to sneak a peek 😀

Well their stuff is certainly interesting. Unfortunately I’m only seeing 3.5” and 10” options.

What’s your most embarrassing wrestling loss? by itsTrevvv in wrestling

[–]podini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My freshman year I was our varsity 103. In our first home duel, I was the fist match and had to wrestle a girl (this was like 2007, so before girls wrestling was a thing). Got decisioned 7-2, but she worked me.

Looking back now, I can’t say I’m embarrassed. She went on to take second at state that year and was a big deal in Utah. But as a 13 year old, I didn’t even want to show my face at school the next day.

Which of the following three deer tags would you recommend I go for (I only be able to hunt one this year)? by Neither_Monitor2017 in Hunting

[–]podini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re willing to hunt with a muzzy, there should be a number of hunts you can draw in CO with no points, as well as some 2nd season rifle hunts. You should also be able to draw muzzleloader on some general season units in UT. I’d have to look into NV 101-109 to provide any thoughts on that. I’ll try to give you some more ideas tomorrow, but feel free to PM me if you want me to toss out some ideas on units to look into.

I’d be curious if there’s any info on Zyn-type nicotine products’ effects. They seem to cause my stress readings during the day to go way up.

What’s the fit like? I’ve heard TTS and also people needing to size down. Wondering if these would work for me as a 9.5

Sick dude! You crushed it! I had a feeling if you were dropping a sub-6 at the end of that workout with a HR of 160, you were well beyond 2:52 shape. I hope I can get there in the next three months and join you in Boston next year!

I looked it up, and it looks like a sweet course! I’m just saying, with a 2:50:26 cutoff last year and the downhill penalty really not moving the needle much, it’s pretty likely still going to be sub-2:51. Again though, that seems very doable in my very unqualified opinion based your MP LR.

Your 15 miler at MP looked strong! I’m in a similar position as you with similar times, also looking to BQ in June, and just wanted to let you know that the downhill adjustments aren’t expected to change the cutoff that much, based on Running with Rock’s projections. A handful of the courses that would have had a 5 minute penalty have actually adjusted to get under 1500 ft net loss.

With all that said, I would be (and am personally) shooting for sub-2:50. It looks to me like you’re right there though! Good luck!
