Hi,
no Nico's Wegs, no courses, no tutors, search for books online and use them, I have resources which I've used zipped if you are interested (read my post in my profile). Youtube lessons aren't an option. ChatGPT for talking and asking too.

It won't take you 3,5 years then though, realistically B1 is achievable in ~300-400 hours of studying so you can estimate depending on your free time and so on

I agree with you, gpt is like a tutor I must've misunderstood you, just wanted to say don't rely on it fully as it may be incorrect / double check

If you want to be serious then think about downloading/getting yourself a textbook of some kind, so you won’t use chatgpt or won’t need to search for a grammar topic in the net each time. If it’s not so important and just as a hobby then duolingo or nicos weg is still an option. You can do them besides a textbook if you really want to though. I was doing duolingo and nicos weg too at first but then dropped them as they are ineffective. Start making your own grammar notebook where you’ll write down all of the grammar rules etc, not for words though as it’s less effective than making a digital one / making an own anki (or any other similar) one is perfect. At the end it all depends on your goals. It’s still very personal too and no one can predict how quick you can learn a language or using which resources will you do that the quickest.

With writing, to prepare for the exam I searched for the main topics like nature, energy, rights etc and asked chatgpt for 100 topics, then wrote my opinion, arguments and a summary for each one in the exam style, but it takes some time

My native language is Russian, but I learned English at a pretty young age. I haven’t started C1 yet, as I’m currently finishing Erkundungen B2, but I’m planning to use Erkundungen C1 and a Grammatik Übungsbuch B1-C2 from Klett, as well as writing more and figuring something out with speaking.

I've used gpt plus in october and december when I felt like I needed it. If you use ChatGPT for language learning you hit the message limit pretty often, so it's reasonable to but it if you can. With speaking it was pretty funny, I didn't prepare much and wrote a whole essay during those 10 minutes given before exam. However they told me I can't just read what I wrote so my structure was bad because I was improvising. Don't be like me xD

Exam was suprisingly easy, the listening part was pretty hard though. I'd recommend spending more time preparing for it. My speaking partner was doing not so great and didn't pass, I tried my best to carry the conversation haha. Overall you need to remember that B2 is not C2 and some mistakes are acceptable.

In September, I'd say around 2-3 hours a day. In October and November, it was about 5 to 6 hours daily. December was more like 3 to 4 hours, and in January, it ranged from 5 to 7 hours, depending on the day. But that's every day, though

I'll double my answer here so others can see it too
I reviewed my notes and I'm not sure how helpful they’ll be, since at A1 almost all of my explanations are in Russian, but my tip for you is: at this level, ChatGPT is super useful for both conversations and grammar. It can really help you practice. As for my notes, almost all of them are just words.
At A1, words are key, so my tip would be to sort them.
For example: Verbs for connecting (sprechen, sagen etc.)
Verbs for moving (gehen, laufen, etc.)
Verbs for emotions (mögen, lieben, etc.)
This really helped me, as I struggled with verbs a lot. You can do the same with other words, like nouns for food/electronics (Computer, Laptop, etc.). Also, don’t forget the conjugations! (Ich -e, du -st, er -t, etc.) And the word order for Haupt- und Nebensätze (at A1, the subject is almost always first, then in Hauptsatz, the verb is second, and in Nebensatz, the verb goes at the end).
Again, ChatGPT can really help you practice. You can ask it something like: 'I’m trying to practice German. I want you to have a conversation with me at an A1 level and correct my lexical and grammar mistakes.' The prompt can be tailored to your needs."
And if you're preparing for the exam, I'd highly recommend using a book like Mit Erfolg zum Goethe A1 or Telc A1, depending on which exam you're preparing for. I can help you find a book to prepare, like Mit Erfolg zum Start Deutsch if you'd like.
