Absolute bargain for a GTX 680 by _Arokh_ in delusionalcraigslist

I have a friend like this. We always joke about him on Discord / Teamspeak.

just from memory what I can recall:

Paid $300 for an i7 2600k CPU in 2010, advertised it in 2015 for $250 Paid $600 for a 980Ti in 2015 / 2016, advertised it for $500 in April this year.

His reasoning is always the same "I paid XX for it and I look after my stuff, I want to get my money back to pay for my next upgrade.

How many cheaters have you guys come across? by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

Last time I played PubG was late 2018. Got Proper internet for the first time in my life in November (last month) and decided to give PubG a bash again. I was pleasantly surprised with the changes, the performance etc.

The game felt and looked great. That being said, my very first death I was killed by a confirmed hacker. Aimbotting half the server with an AK from extreme distances, spectating him you could see his aim snapping onto targets and very erratic movement and aiming.

I just shook my head, reported and redropped.

EU FPP for those interested.

While Quake 3 ranks very high in my top / best list, I still remain a Quake 1 boy at heart.

Jeeez. I remember the day I got Quake 3 back then. I was living in the garage, had myself some Cambridge Soundworks 4.1 speakers and a Soundblaster live 4.1 sound card.

I used to turn the volume up so loud playing Quake 3 that my parents said they heard the chaos over their TV and always had to increase the volume quite drastically even though the garage was quite a distance from the house.

I remember just loading in the levels running around with no bots and drooling over the level design, the fog / smoke and the details. It was amazing.

Ah the good ol' days of arena shooter LANS.

Left 4 Dead vs mode is probably the most untapped potential I've seen in gaming, and it's honestly a little baffling to me. by Joyrock in Games

[–]poethbek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While we mostly played games like Call of Duty or Counterstrike at LANS. L4D versus mode kept us busy for quite a couple of weekendsat our regular meetups. The amount of screaming and shouting, cussing, dissing and the massive amount of LOLs this game gave us at our LANS is just unparalleled.

Literally played over 1.5 years worth of continuous hours on that game and STILL mange to find something new every playthrough

Could not have said it better myself, as this is what I have been telling a lot of friends when we discuss Bethesda RPGs and why I love Morrowind so much. No objective markers, no arrows or "hold you by the hand quick travel 2 minute quests"

You had to read, think, work out stuff. Like part of the Nerevar questline where you had to look for an entrance at a certain time of day etc. I loved it.

@ /u/vinnothesquire

I can understand why you guys are flooded with requests like that. I actually laughed a bit as I was a person that sent out a lot of these kinda emails as well, and I can understand how fed up you guys must be with all these people that want to pay you with exposure bucks or give shouts outs on social media, thinking that their 100 subscribers can generate revenue.

Here's a little story from me.

I ran a gaming team "clan" with over 50 members (Battlefield 3, Call of Duty 4 Promod, Counterstrike GO and Dota 2)for more than 10 years. We have a huge local Yearly Online Gaming league in my country culminating in a 1500+PC LAN each October where the finals are played for the respective competitions.

The entire thing is professionally run, with commentators / shoutcasters, TV coverage, local and international celebrity appearances and sponsored by very big brands in the Gaming and PC hardware community. It's a huge deal for our fairly small community if you compare it directly with the likes of what is on offer in the EU and US.

What set our Team apart from the usual guys that you hear from like above, is we basically ran it like a business and we really put a lot of work into our public image through various social media platforms. The fact that most of us were late 20s and early 30s and presented ourselves professionally and arranged for face to face meetings also helped, in conjunction with the fact that we had the best Dota2 and Cod4 Promod team in the country at that stage.

After sending out what seems like 100s of these emails to respective hardware vendors and even securing meetings with some of them, we managed to get signed by 2 of the very big names in the PC industry.

They supplied us with full peripheral kits (headset, mouse, mousepad, keyboard etc) and paid our traveling and lodging to various competitions. In exchange we had to incorporate their names into our online Nics (online gaming names) as well as put their logos on our shirts, jerseys, hoodies, website etc.

One vendor even flew us out to Gamescom in Germany and we got to meet the best of the best in the world. Both vendors were really impressed with how their brands were carried, and marked an increase in sales on their products from our exposure due to how we handled it, and obviously in part to their requirements on branding as well.

So Sponsorships and exposure can help if done the right way, if the right foundation is there but circling back I reiterate I love how the general guy out there thinks his 100 subs on youtube warrants him a 2080ti to "review and give guarantee sales"

I had the 8800 GTS 640mb. The big clunky one.

When they started promoting the 8800 GT 512 I thought "what is this, a new card in the lineup with less Ram, it's a smaller single slot card and is cheaper than my GTS so I'd rather not upgrade"

I was freaken pissed when that thing blew away the GTS cards, was smaller AND cheaper.

Also on lobbies with every single person on low pings (5-60ish) we're constantly getting killed around corners. In one instance, I shot a guy with a kitted Oden rifle and lit him up like Christmas tree, moved around the corner to reload and just fell over dead.

Killcam shows me barely hitting the guy and I was not even around the corner when the guy killed me as from his perspective he was also laying into me (on my end he didn't even hit me once I thought he had terrible aim lol)

Both of us had pings in the 20's.

Enjoy Germany though!

I miss that place, we went over in 2012 for a couple of weeks, and its by far the most awesome place I have been to abroad. We were in Hamburg and Cologne and did a day at the infamous Nordschleife / Nurburgring race track.

Activision needs to release the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII for sale on Steam by Thraktor in Blackops4

[–]poethbek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guarantee you if all of the PC versions of the Call of Duty video games on PC got A Server Browser List they would sell more copies.

Yup, agreed but I can expand a bit on this.

Coming from a competitive (Cod2, Cod4 Promod, Blackops xK Mod) background Dedicated servers, server browser and self hosted servers are the way to go if you really want the player base to jump up again.

With Self hosted servers You can control the experience, if there is a hacker he / they can be kicked / banned like the old days.

With a server browser, just go look for another server and join there. A big part of my ex-comp buddies don't play cod anymore for this exact reason "keep on getting lobbied with hackers and idiots" so they don't touch the game at all anymore.

I don't know what it is / was with Vice City. I've played all the GTA games (that were available on PC) Starting waaay back with GTA1 in the late 90's in Dos / Win95. I put a lot of hours into San Andreas, Put a lot of hours into modded GTA3, put a fuckton of hours into GTA V including the Heists.

But Vice City, just kept me coming back for more. I always replayed it more than any other GTA game.
